I am adding some 8 LED flashers to the back of one of my machines and am concerned they will be distractingly bright but I really want them for the rich color they add.
Has anyone found a way to dim their brightness?

I may be wrong, but I don't think you can dim them.
I always leave all my flashers incandescent. They're typically plenty bright as is, and LED flashers are ridiculously expensive.
K.I.S.S a dab of acrylic craft paint the same color on each LED will dim them but keep them the same color.

They are only like $2 a pop and 10 ish per game. Not bad at all.
I like the 5 smd ones since they flash in all directions, work anywhere and not stupidly bright
The 5 SMD are about 30 percent brighter, approx, and the closest to incandescent.
We start our singles at $1.29 ea. and go as low as $.99 ea. in bulk.
Pretty affordable, I hope.

Quite affordable!
A small piece of elec tape over individual emitters can tone them down and is completely reverse able.
The white blubs called 'warm' look exactly like incandescent.
You can see them in the LED contest thread RBG has lots of warm and BG has 'natural' except for one set in the backglass cannons where it's "Blue, Green, Red, Orange, Natural White" from the cannon towards the end.
In 'CASINO' the 'N' in warm LED and the 'O' is Natural white LED (single, domed-bullet style)

Color between the two types (warm/natural) is going to look just like these color wise but brighter so It should still help a bit.
Not even going to try to catch a flasher on with my camera even on repeat in coil test.
Added additional info to what those 'are' (single, domed) in case someone wanted to know-
of course singles aren't right for flashers.

Thanks guys. The spot I am worried about will have flat flashers. The 5 led type would not work as well. I will try the tape or paint idea, if needed.

If you are having to tape aflat flasher then the 5 smd tower may be perfect...
What kind of game are you putting the flashers in? I know in modern Stern games, in one of the adjustment screens, you can choose one of three settings for the flashers (dim, normal, and hard/strong). I tested the dim setting last night and it does indeed make a difference. May be the way to go for LED flashers, if the setting even affects them anyway. I don't have much experience with Bally/Williams in terms of system settings, so I'm not sure if they have that option.

Its for my AVLE. I will check that out, thanks for the tip! Can you adjust them individually or is it the same setting for all flashers?

It's a generic setting for all flashers.
