In the US there are 6 distinct ways of saying pecan.

Quoted from MajorDrainer:Longest palindrome...A man a plan a canal Panama.
Favorite palindrome: taco cat
90% give or take of the cells in and on our body are not ours but rather things living on and in us.
Quoted from jamesmc:I was under the impression that coca cola and pepsi cola just sell the syrup and bottlers distribute. I think there are over 70 for coca cola in US.
While once true, there has been some major consolidation with the bottlers and the syrup makers.
Quoted from jamesmc:Last I read in Jan 2019 "there are 68 independent coca cola bottlers running their own trucks and bottling operations as a fully refranchised system". For me, part of the fun is the sound my coke machine makes after it takes your dime and you choose your soda. My granddaughter and I can't get cheap fun like that in a can.
With Coke in the USA specifically, about a decade or so ago they bought out the largest bottler. It represented something like 75-85% of the market at the time. They continued to try and consolidate for years. About 2-5 years ago they had a change of heart and “refranchised” the bottlers. Not to familiar with that part of the story. (Edit: I suspect they wanted to get away from the true independent bottler model and go with the McDonalds franchisee model. They technically don’t own them, but the bottlers have no power to exert their independence).
Other bottlers have consolidated amongst themselves and been bought out by the syrup makers as well.
Quoted from ccbiggsoo7:stern and jjp will raise prices again.
I find that neither fun nor interesting.
It’s an American product owned by a foreign conglomerate using American feedstocks.
Profits go abroad. Product is sold abroad as well (just like before it was bought out).
I can see how if this type of situation bothers you, it would be very difficult to be a consumer in the marketplace.
To be honest I am impressed by the dedication of anyone who combs thru their grocery list so carefully. Right now I just grateful to get bacon of any sort when I shop.
Is bacon produced at an American factory from American hogs fed American feedstock foreign if it is owned by a foreign company though?
(If yes, then I have some bad news about your beef)
Quoted from EJS:This reminds me of those days when people would buy a CD for 1 or 2 tracks.
I like how the video displays the top album of the year by year as the video progresses. At least I assume that's what it is.
It also appears vinyl is outperforming download and CD's (not combined) which is neat to see.
Vinyl never dies!
Quoted from RCA1:In 1835 Michigan and Ohio called out their militias and nearly went to war over which state includesToledo and the strip of land it's on.
The Federal government basically forced Michigan to give it up, in return for the Upper Peninsula being added to Michigan.
So the real loser was probably Wisconsin.

And to this day my extended family still argues about it.
Quoted from RCA1:I think the intent is east of a part of MN.
The orangy-red area is east of the westernmost point of MN.
Bingo. The westernmost part of MN at the tippity top. Go straight south and you get a sliver of area along the river. (Essentially the I29 corridor). The yellow splotches on the map relate to population density (cities).
It could have just said "hey a good chunk of the Dakota's population lives along an important river and interstate highway". But what's the fun in that?
Quoted from jrpinball:On flat maps, the farther north or south a landmass is, the bigger it looks. That's because the earth is round, but when a map is shown in a flat format, this distortion is the result.
For example, Greenland looks huge on a flat map, but when you see it on a globe, it's not nearly as large.
Yep, but I still find map trivia based on that phenomenon trippy. It’s like, I know it’s true but it still makes me dizzy.
I like maps…maybe because I have approximately zero sense of direction naturally.
