Aack! Gotta take this fun fact back. Recent volcanic activity caused almost all of Crater Lake's water to evaporate. Vulcan Point is no longer surrounded by water.

You can’t drive a car from North America into South America, due to the “Darien Gap”— an area of dense, dangerous and roadless jungle between Panama and Colombia. Though the roads in Yariza, Panama and Turbo, Colombia are only 66 miles apart, connecting roads are unlikely to be built here due to great expense, environmental concerns and the threat of diseased cattle and drug traffickers moving into Panama.

I’m fascinated by this map of regional terms used to describe athletic footwear. I’m originally from Chicago and have always called them “gym shoes.” It’s wild that only folks in Chicago and Cincinnati prefer that term.
So I was surprised to find local “City-Opoly” board games sold out West with a token piece called a “Gym Shoe.”
But then… Aha! Made in Cincinnati, Ohio!
