I'm pretty sure that United designed features that were unique to their own games (e.g., 8 balls next game), but did they ever introduce a feature that was later copied by Bally?

    - plopping a ball in hole 16 for an extra ball ("Ballyhole")
    - scoring the short diagonals.

I'm sure there's more. I added dates to the flyer tour pages at:
    https://bingo.cdyn.com/paper/

so you can use a couple browser windows and step thru the flyers chronologically to compare. Keep in mind that the design dates and mfg/release dates weren't always the same sequence, and I wouldn't be too confident when you're talking about a few months delta in the dates.

That's neat... I didn't realize that United originated the "Ballyhole." (I don't imagine United would have cared much for that name

Which Bally games used the short diagonals? Were they late games?

Dixieland, Nashville, High Flyer, Continental (25 hole), Mississippi Showboat. All six cards. All very late (77-81).
