Did I kill my brand new Rottendog Whitestar CPU?

Hey! So I have a ID4 that I bought a new CPU for and it was working great but was missing the battery - i got the right battery but like a moron assumed polarity and plopped the battery in backwards. I fired it up and everything seemed fine. I then made adjustments to some settings (pricing) and then saved the settings and the machine started making this INCREDIBLY LOUD SOUND on startup. The game still plays fine but the audio is now just ear piercing squealing. Did I fry the board or maybe a sound rom? Has this happened to anyone else? Please advise!

I honestly don’t know but I’d reach out to who you purchased from

Isn't there supposed to be a diode in place to protect against a reversed battery?

Rottendog itself is no longer operating, but toddsvec is/was a big rottendog seller, so it's possible that he may have heard of the issue before. I'd suggest getting in touch with him.

I have a nib white star test fixture arriving this month, all else fails I can take a look.

Well did some testing tonight. I have a starship troopers pin running on an original whitestar cpu so I swapped the roms to the rottendog and I still have sound issues. It's not as loud as the id4 but there's a definite high pitched sound that is constant when I fire up the board and if I turn it off and on again quickly there's some speech in super slow motion.
