I am wondering if there is a data base of all the machines that came with a diamond plate playfield and their numbers?

All games T2 and after have a clearcoat. Before that, some SYS11 and WPC games from Banzai Run onward had selected playfields clearcoated.

I had a FishTales that had a Diamond Plate pf

What about Data East? When did they start clear coating playfields?

    Gottlieb ever do clear coats?

    #10 3 years ago

    Some Whirlwinds.

No. All Gottlieb playfields from the late 1970s to their end in 1996 were made by ESC. All had a lacquered coating.

All games from Giligans onward had some sort of clearcoat.

Here's some info, based on interviews with people that worked at these companies:

For data East their first “stealth coat”. Was on the 1990 Batman game. All DE games after that has this stealthcoat. It did get better with time.
Stealth coat was good, but not as good as the diamondplate from Williams.

I have what I think is the one and only Taxi diamondplate.

I seem to recall Kryptonite coat also as a name for Data East

Taken from a 1996 RGP post.

As did, I thought, several later-model Data East games. A couple
DE games were advertised with their new "Kryptonite-Kote" ... or
    something like that.

I heard that all playfields get coated at the same place, so all
manufacturers should be using similar, if not identical, hardcoats
    on their playfields.

I had a Radical diamond plate.

I believe banzai run was the first with the experimential xr7 clearcoat which eventually became diamond coat .

For what it's worth, here's the earliest I've seen it referenced (from the PotO flyer).

This is the actual diamond plate playfield flyer, I believe it's from 1988:

Please note there were only something like 100 or 200 early Funhouses made with DiamondPlate, but due to an unfortunate decision there are repro FH playfields out there with the DiamondPlate logo, so anyone looking for an original needs to be aware.

No, I have one. And Chris Bucci has one. I think there may be as few as five of them though, that were at expo 88’

I know this post is a year old... but... are there more details to share on how to determine what is an original FH playfield with Diamond Plate and what would be a repro that says Diamond Plate? Something written or stamped on it that tells you what it is? Underneath maybe? Thx.

Adding to the original post subject, my Party Zone is also a Diamond Plate playfield. Same for the Getaway that was already mentioned. So Funhouse, Getaway and Party Zone Diamond Plate playfields in my collection.
