Took delivery of my DI Standard last week - put some games on it and loved it! Then after powering on the machine a couple of days ago I got a couple of self-test errors: BOB trap door and the theater entrance switch. Neither had been working since I unboxed it. Did a little research and found out I was missing out on half the game!

The trap door wasn't closing and was stuck in the up position. Fixed that by bending the adjustment "tab" on the metal bracket in which the small solenoid is mounted so the latch/hook that holds the trap door open is just barely engaged. Now when the small solenoid fires, it barely has to move the latch at all and the trap door drops down.

The theater entrance switch is an opto. I pulled the clear plastic over the pop bumpers and disconnected the theater unit. Sure enough, the opto (the sender I believe) on the left side of the theater had come loose and was just hanging there by the wires. Found the back cover of the opto unit in the bottom of the cabinet. The cover helps hold the opto in place - it must have came loose during shipping.

Now that the trap door and theater works, I love the game even more!

Quoted from epotech:

My phone screen keeps blanking since 1.52 not sure if it's 1.52 or its the screen.

My DI has a build date of 12/5 and my phone screen has been going black every other day or so. Pulled apart the phone a couple of times and reseated the cables to the board inside, as well as the other end of the VGA cable in the backbox. It fixed it twice or so, but then the phone would go black after a few games again. This morning pulled the phone completely apart again, and figured out while reassembling that the VGA cable might be bad. If I bend it one way underneath the phone, it will fix the screen, but bend it back and the screen goes black again. The LCD screen is good, because when I disconnect the VGA cable, I get a blue screen and "VGA" displayed, but when the VGA cable is connected, it goes blank again.

I have the VGA cable bent a certain way and it's been good all day, but I assume one of the wires inside the cable has a break in it and only makes contact when the cable is bent in just the right way.

I might just be a horrible player, but I can't figure out for the life of me how to make the SIM card shot. The only time I ever make the shot is from the ball bouncing off of something else and getting the shot by blind luck. I can make the side ramp shot all day, but can never seem to make the SIM card shot from the upper flipper. Is there something I am missing, or is it just a nearly impossible shot?

I've had issues with my phone screen since new, with the screen going blank during the middle of the game, and then not coming back until I power the machine off and back on. Also, once in a while, the screen would get garbled, but then come back and work during a game. Yesterday though, it seems my phone screen gave up the ghost - opened a ticket on JJP's site last night and waiting to hear back.

Quoted from LTG:

In the backbox on the motherboard. Swap the VGA cables for theater and phone. Then play it. ( phone picture will be in theater and theater picture on phone ). That way you know if it's VGA cable or phone, or motherboard/video card for phone.
LTG : )

Will do that tonight and report back!

Did that and same thing - phone still had a bad display when the theater image was sent to it. JJP support got back to me and are already sending me a replacement phone. It's my second JJP machine, but first time I've needed to use support. Couldn't be happier with the response time and the resolution (hopefully). Kudos to JJP!

I'm an idiot and can't figure out how one of the Cliffy shooter lane protectors gets installed. Received the set from Cliff a couple of days ago and have all of the protectors installed (they are awesome BTW!) with the exception of the one circled in the photo below. This one goes on the right side side of the shooter lane against the rail. It's got an angle bent into it and a little hook (at the bottom left of the piece in the photo) and I can't seem for the life of me to figure out how it gets positioned. Has anyone installed these on their machine and can describe or show me how it should be positioned? I found an install video online, but of course they only show the piece already installed...

Quoted from chill:

I had trouble figuring this one out too. This is what I did. The protector ends up getting compressed between the outer wood rail and the playfield. One of the screws goes through the hole in the protector. I am pointing to it and you can see the protector in btween the playfield and wood rail. Just line it up with the left side shooter lane protector to keep the ball balanced in the shooter lane. Good luck.

Thanks! I thought about putting it that way, but didn't think it was meant to be compressed under the rail. I guess compressing it keeps it from sliding back or forth under the shooter rail. And the little hook/point on the Cliffy gets embedded in the bottom of the rail to keep that end from moving. Makes sense!
