As soon as I saw the date I thought "there better not be an issue with the game", lol.

The only thing that is still a problem on my machine: When the SIM card is lit, it takes an act of god to get a ball to drop in the hole. It is like there is a giant force field that corresponds to the SIM light. Sure enough, after I lose the ball and the light goes out, the ball drops in the hole all day long. Go figure.

Seems like a very challenging, yet fun, shot. Do you have the original JJP SIM card protector installed or the one from Cliffy? I heard with the Cliffy SIM protector that the shot is slightly easier to make.

I have been making this more regularly by banking it off the post to the left of the theater.

Just be glad it wasn't a 420 Friday. That sounds like a recipe for manufacturing disaster

Quoted from Gizmonic:

The main issues with the trap door are caused by the fact that JJP is not using the adjustment tab for some reason. I try to explain it here:

My Dialed In LE is sitting at the dock in Denver! Ugh long weekend waiting knowing it’s so close!

I just drove 20hrs round trip to pick up a huo . I used a seldom used credit card for gas in New York and PA, that was yesterday today I get a call from city bank. about a charge for 300 dollars and a 50 dollar charge at dunkin donuts in Maryland , 2 Indians (not the casino kind) at the gas station /store must of scammed my card next day!
at least the city bank is on top of it. anyway great game. it has that one more try feeling to it.

Quoted from PanzerFreak:

My new Dialed In is now playing great except for one minor issue, a full plunge isn't getting the ball out of the shooter lane. I think I just need to move the shooter rod down a bit by adjusting the 3 bolts that hold the shooter rod to the bracket. The shooter rod is likely hitting towards the top of the ball versus the middle.

It is either a shooter rod adjustment OR the playfield brackets have "faded" (bent) a little, allowing the autolauncher to drag on the shooter rod tip. Dialed In and Hobbit both did this over time on us. WoZ never did. Dunno why.

The fix is easy, though. Bend the right bracket curve a little, OR you can put a thick washer between the bracket and the playfield where it screws to the underside. It doesn't need much - a 1/16" is probably enough. Having done both as I dealt with the issue on both machines (numerous times on TH, once on DI), I came to favor the washer method.

You can see if it's off-center shooter rod vs faded brackets causing rod drag on autolauncher by slo-mo filming a manual ball launch with your iphone.

I get the same problem with my shooter rod. I think I'll have to plane the wood to bring down the mechanism. Adding a washer does not work or not enough.
Now I can say it is not a surprise for me that a more complexe mech like 3 spinning discs on POTC does not work properly or enough reliable to be kept as JJP is not able to build/design a simple mech like trap door (they are still building pins with this issue). Either their testing process is bad or their engineers are bad...or both. And I do not tell you about all the little problems (mechs adjustments) that the game has at the exit of the factory, seriously ruining the experience of buying a Nib game.

Seriously, how a shot done by luck 99 times out of 100 can it be fun?

I also think if there was a thread about the worst important shot in pinball industry It would be highly ranked in my top.

Oh, no! Don't grind the wood down to fix this!

If you tried with washers, you just didn't use thick enough washers or you put them in the wrong place. They need to be between the playfield and the bracket, on the screw closest to the edge of the playfield. Stack a couple, it doesn't take much, and this is completely reversible, unlike grinding a playfield's wood.

I’m not talking about grinding playfield’s wood but the cabinet, the house mech not drilled enough lower.
Sorry about my English, don’t know if I explain well what I would like to say

Grinding the cabinet or playfield should not be necessary. Take a picture of where you installed the washer(s). That's the best solution (and completely reversible).

It should certainly not be in the right place as it is inside the shooter house mech ( front cabinet). The aim was to swing the rod axis forward in the shooter lane to knock the ball lower.
I prefer to get a pic of the right washer location to fix this problem. Thanks

Who could possibly say anything about a Canadian?!?! We're pretty much the best! Haha.

I wonder sometimes how anyone has the time or place in their minds and hearts to have these negative thoughts of others. Life is so hectically busy, that some days I barely remember to eat breakfast, let alone harbor ill thoughts of a complete stranger!

I guess the only thing I could mention is that Canadians seem to have a superiority complex about Americans.

Huh? Really? We watch your news. Follow your celebrities. Support your companies. Rely on the value of your dollar.

Not sure who you're getting that from, but I don't think we see ourselves as superior. If anything, we pride ourselves on equality.

Funny how MLK was an American with an amazing dream, but Canadians are much closer to practicing this. Not to say that race isn't an issue here, bit nowhere near as evident as it is there. (edited)
Oh, and my sister is an American, and she's pretty cool in my eyes

There is actually, thank you for reminding me.

We should return to the discussion of pinball, especially a game as awesome as DI.

I don't have much tolerance for ignorance, and your message about "Indians" epitomized that. But a few words exchanged here won't open up your eyes to see anything new.

I just feel it's my duty as a human being, to say something in the face of blatant bigotry. Maybe some just let it slide, but nothing gets solved that way.

Anyhow, back to pinball. A male, white dominated, affluent hobby. And yet, you still have energy to say terrible things about others. People are awesome!

I removed the mylar from my theater and drone magnets today, and then adjusted the theater magnet delay time. The ball is consistently throw up and around now, just like when the game was new. Yay!

Unfortunately, somehow in the process, the display on my phone stopped working. I’ve checked the two connectors under the playfield (yellow/black) and (red/white/black) and they’re on snug. The VGA cable is snug on the back of the display as well as the CPU. The RJ45 bus cable is connected. The LEDs around the display are working, but the display is blank, in display test mode or in game play. I’m out of ideas, except for perhaps connecting an external display to the CPU or connecting the phone display to an external device. The display is completely dark; I suspect it’s a power issue vs video signal issue.

Any thoughts from the group?

The timing is suspect; I must have done something. Pulling out the magnets was super easy...

You have to figure out bank shots. I have the JJP protector on mine, and I still make the shot about 1 in 10. I bank the ball off the stand-up to the left of the theatre or double bank off the Big Bang targets. I occasionally make the direct shot as well. I think the difficulty is spot on, considering the value of sim cards.

For everyone that has trouble with the SIM shot...I’m hitting it like 6/10 times (not too bad I think)...I shoot fast up through the theatre and then shoot it hard/fast off of the end of the right upper flipper.

I have actual cliffy’s on the SIM card hole and game is pitched properly.

I received LE# 577 on Friday, what an absolutely amazing game. I followed a lot of the advice from this thread, which has been an invaluable resource so thanks to all that have posted in here. Trap door, magnet mylar removal and flipper adjustments were great suggestions and easy to follow. Some unusual issues I've had are:

- I have a bubble in my apron sticker, right in the middle. There is something under it, I can't smooth it out.
- My play field has a smudge o it over the "Disaster" insert. I notified my distro, but I may try working it out.
- I broke a flipper return spring within 48 hours of unboxing

This is a great family pin. I really enjoy playing it and my kids love the app (messing with the flippers while I play, mostly), the selfies, the screen and the theater. I have to admit that after the reveal, I thought it was a bust. But after playing it and now having the opportunity to own it and play it much more in depth, it's an amazing concept and layout from Pat Lawlor. New favorite pin.

I'd heat it gently with a blowdryer to lift it and get whatever hard material is underneath out.

Should be a couple springs wound together too. The leg leveler looking thing rides on that cam. It screws into the shaft above, you can adjust the height with that nut.
