I do know you can photobomb during selfie mode, so I would imagine you be a two headed monster for your pic as well. Again, an odd facial recognition, but I'm cool with it.

What is everyone favorite Dialed In! rules document / site?

I know JJP has a rules outline, but I'm looking for the more detailed variants. I'm seen some impressive ones but they were last updated in 2018. Sure, they are a great place to start but wondering if there's one that's updated for 1.73 (or even 1.61)?

... Altan

Quoted from altan:

BTW, regarding Dialed In pictures... I don't know if this has been posted before, but I realized you can effectively export the pictures from your game. Just do a settings backup.
You'll end up with a *.tar.gz file. I think the name of the file has something to do with the game's serial number but I have no way to knowing that as a fact.
untar / unzip and head into
jjpe/gen1/DailedIn/vf/misc/hstd
and you'll see various *.png files.
And, BTW, I'd expect you could use the reverse process to insert your own images in place of the originals --- but haven't tried it yet. It might have a hash or something that gets in the way

I'm thinking you have way too much time on your hands.

So when I am awarded an extra ball, my Shoot Again insert does not light any longer. It works during the attract mode and at the beginning of a ball when you have ball save though. Any thoughts?

The reserve ball setting probably does this. All extra balls are played after all players compete their 3 balls, even if it's a single player game. If you change that setting the insert will probably light up for extra balls.

I see the B.O.B. targets are not selectable by the flippers... Sigh... If I had a pinball Genie and one wish, this would be my pinball wish.

Tranq, are you sling shot power set really low? If so, turn them up a little and you will never have a problem getting that lower B target.

Mine are stock. Would that be low?

#10008 4 years ago

Maybe. I believe I turned mine up. Not enough to go nuts but enough to avoid the potential tennis match between the slings and to keep the from launching straight into the out lane. So, a little stronger is actually good.

I wonder if there is a buy-in in Dialed In?

#10010 4 years ago

good night, i have dialed le new in box, and one man change me with juez dredd, demolition man, and the shadow, + 2400€ cash, is good??

#10011 4 years ago

Depends on the state of each
Each is around 1800/2000 in medium/good shape

Quoted from fhk:

I love Dialed In, but I'd almost certainly take that trade as long as the three machines are in decent shape.

#10013 4 years ago

I had shadow and jd, and I'm not sure I'd go for a switch. These are three middle games, far away from Dialed In in term of flow and beauty.

#10014 4 years ago
Quoted from BENETNATH:

This is a good point. I don't know EU pricing but in the US The Shadow is getting close to $4k, and Demo Man and Dredd are usually more than $2.5k.

If those games aren't heating up in EU like they are here then maybe it's not as good a deal as I thought.

#10015 4 years ago

That prices can exist, but only in ultra collector state.. And I don't see someone trading 3 collectors against one nib

#10016 4 years ago

The only stinker is demo, and with the right rom, it's decent. Shadow is in my top 3, above dialed in. It's a fabulous game. Dredd is super fun. That's a fair to good trade imho for the guy with DI. Variety is worth a lot to me.

It's certainly a personal choice ... and a collection size choice I'd argue ... but for me, I'd trade 3 pins like that FOR a Dialed In. I'd never let it go for those 3 pins.

#10018 4 years ago

If I didn't have two of them already, I'd consider it. Those games are great games.

#10019 4 years ago

Size of the collection is a good point.
I'm trying to reduce to 6 slots, therefor it's more focused on really good games.
Shadow is great, fast and interesting but I'm not so fan of the comic or the movie, so it's not so appealing.
Judge Dread has plenty of things to do and my kids were in love with the supermodel start. The theme is really well done and fun.
Demo is lower in term of interest, never bothered to get one at home.

But at the end, I turn on dialed in, lightshow is wonderful and all ramps are butter smooth. It's really more challenging than the three other ones. That's the new generation and side by side, these three get old fast.

With a DI LE NIB I'd go for a 2-1 swap with bigger titles.. Eg : JP or Deadpool, LOTR, Spiderman..

#10020 4 years ago

Thx for all, i have various week think in it, i dont know. :-{

I'm hoping the next code update includes new disasters such as:

Hand Sanitizer Showdown
Toilet Paper Riots
Stock Market Mayhem
Tony Pepperoni's Toilet Wine Challenge
BOBs BombShelter Bonanza

How about some new code for the weekend? I don't even care if it's broken, it will give us something to complain about other than this stupid virus.

Di more challenging than Shadow? You must be playing it without an incline.

#10027 4 years ago

Same incline, but i had mostly finished shadow in less than 2 months and felt it a bit repetitive. Callouts and so. Light show is poor, lock magnet also gets old.
I've not yet reached showdown on my DI (my playfield protector seems a good helper to miss Sim cards..

#10028 4 years ago

That only proves how challenging this game really is!

I searched and searched for a Shadow in decent shape and close proximity.I finally killed one and dragged it home. It was great for three months and then I sold it.
Dialed In has been here for 2 years and it is still fun and challenging,I could use a few more disaster modes to mix it up alittle.

#10030 4 years ago

I love DI, but I find DI and Shadow to be apples and oranges. I find shadow to be more challenging in general and DI to be more repetative. DI is pretty simple if you want to crush scores: Bash dude, start mode, light bang, BANG, get sim. Rinse, repeat while completing easier modes. Multiballs, BOB modes and the theatre don't mean much in comparison. To finish the game, you have to marathon, which isn't exactly bad. It's just different.

Shadow's ramp changers are awesome for setting up shots and big points with vengeance, and the mini playfield is on par with the power in TZ. Scoring is balanced enough that everything is worth going for, and shots are pretty tough, particularly the mode/xb shot. I have all my games (including DI) cranked to maximum steepness, so maybe this is what makes my shadow so challenging.

#10031 4 years ago

Question on playfield.
My DI has had playfield protector when I bought it. I'm considering to remove it as I made that move on my deadpool and the gain in precision of shots was significant.
That said, I'm planning to pu some mylar in the potential wear area.
I've cliff's installed, but were do you recommend to protect?
Exit of the phone seems to one risky area?
Or nothing to fear in a normal 5-10 games per day rhythm?

You need cliffys for Sim card and phone scoop. I recommend switch slot cliffys for the ball drop areas left and tight. If you want, use Mylar in the shooter lane kick out area. That's all imho.

Just keep it cleaned, wax regularly, and change the balls every 3-5 months. You don’t need more Mylar except perhaps where the ball drops from the lock location. I put a little square there. Do make sure you have the cliffys on the phone and sim as TrekTobbyGermany said.

Cliffys are already installed,
Any feedback of other owners that removed their playfield protector?
Thanks folks for your advices

Good decision: PF protectors are trash.

Watch the ball eject from the phone scoop and put a piece where the ball hits/spins when it comes out. Ball drop from the lock. That's it.

If the previous owner didn't cut the mylard around the magnets. Do that as well.

#10036 4 years ago

Tranquilize cut the mylar ?? taking a x-blade an removing mylar that is factory laid on the magnet ??

Just around the circular metal piece. It will get shredded over time if you don’t do it. There’s probably a key post about it in this thread.

I removed the cliffys in my game, put a mantis in the phone scoop, then custom cut some mylar around the hole. I have a vinyl cutter, so I just designed what I wanted and installed. Cliffys seems to mess the shots up for me, but that is just my opinion, others love them. All is good. https://mantispinball.com/product/dialed-in-phone-scoop-protector/

I agree about the sim shot,I also removed my protector and installed some Mylar and raised the rear deflector on the sim shot with some washers, like I did on my first di a few years ago, helps lot on this very important shot, phone shot is a gimme with protector on so I leave it.

OK, I would love to raise the deflector with washers...but how are you doing it? Right now, the left side of the deflector is either touching or just about touching the ramp, so I don't see how it could possibly be raised? Basically...maybe it can be raised but its going to scratch the ramp sticker/paint for sure...

What is the consensus about inconsistent coils on this game? I stayed on 1.57 for ages because of these issues, and now I have them. My phone scoop sometimes shoots it out normally, but other times it'll just poop it out or somewhere inbetween. My theatre magnet is now acting up as well.

I have adjusted the coils and the theatre magnet many times, so this is not the issue. It is inconsistent.

Is this a new processor need, seeing that I'm one of the lucky Celeron owners?

This game has been nothing but problems since I bought it. I love the game, but way worse than any machine I've owned.

Maybe magnetized pinballs could cause this phenomenon

#10043 4 years ago
Quoted from Green-Machine:

Certainly with the phone scoop, yes.

#10044 4 years ago

Where is the option to make the magnet make the ball get tossed around more. Not the delay setting, but I understood there was some new setting that made the ball flail around more after a magnet catch in the theatre?

#10045 4 years ago
Quoted from Nokoro:

Certainly with the phone scoop, yes.

Magnetized pinball can create some weird symptoms I found after buying my DILE
I have never seen these types of things in any other game I’ve owned. I put fresh new pinballs in and all went away.

And DI magnetized them quickly. I always get carbon steel, but I’m replacing the balls very frequently compared to other games with magnets.

No issue on coils on the latest version

I was puzzled when I saw this question because I've never had "inconsistent coils". With that said, I've only every played 1.71 (briefly) and mostly 1.73. That may tell you something.
