Quoted from RTS:The Mike Bender voice is crappy too. Totally amateurish. Pretend the lame callouts were intentional if you want but they ruin the game.
I think the shots, the flow and the rules of Dialed In are fantastic. And the theme doesn't bother me at all.
But the absolutley uninspired audio is what eventually killed the game for me. It's the only game I've ever owned where audio made me sell it. (And I own RBION).
I agree on the sounds. Intentional or not, they are bad.
I love DI, but don't like the mess of the theme it has and don't like the sounds.
I do love the finesse of the software, how everything is finetuned, sounds and great lightshows are well integrated.
But the sounds themselves are uninspirational.
I compare it to WPT which I had. Great game, but also lousy standard sounds that don't carry any emotion.
Same with DI. The game has a lot in theme but it doesn't have any emotion or energy.
Just compare the sound in DI if you're in multiball - 'you're under attack'.. with AFM's 'YOU'RE UNDER ATTACK.. AN ATTACK .. FROM MMAAARRRSS !!'
it's heavy powerful sounds like the AFM callouts that you want in pinball.
Just look at TZ's callouts.. they blow you away. Literally. POWERBALL !! JACKPOT !!
