I agree, there are more exciting and deserving central features to most pins than a cell phone. Monsters, superheros, knights, zombies, cartoon characters. It’s interesting to see this game’s arc over the past 3 years. I almost bought Dialed In! in July, 2017 when I was looking to buy just my second pin ever. I went with Ghostbusters instead, but did buy a DILE in May, 2018. We really liked it. We didn’t love it. The gameplay was an A grade. It still is, to me. The flow and shot geometry is great. It’s fun to play. The theme is better than it first seemed, if you focus on the disaster elements. But the mix of “modern” topics like drones and selfies and emojis and disasters isn’t super cohesive. It’s a mixed bag. Not many of us love having our pictures taken and then published for others to see. When I sold my DILE after 4-5 months it had some of the worst candid pics of me I had ever seen on it. Surely there are better uses for cameras and Bluetooth? I like the scratch-off ticket bonus mode for example, where you wave your hand to scratch off the ticket. That’s clever. More of that, less selfies. After all the code updates and years of gameplay, is there a more divisive title than DI!? It’s an interesting question. Is there a more divisive title in Pinball?

See what I mean? This thread went quiet for 88 days until I kicked it awake less than a day ago. Now, 20+ more comments. Personally, I like DI a lot and would own it again. I don’t think the look of the game is a problem, and JJP builds legit pins. I also agree that DI is their best overall effort to date. I’ve owned WOZ and Hobbit too. Loved the look and theme/art packages on both of those. Wonka is a nice pin too. POTC is crazy loaded and may be a better pin than DI, I just haven’t played it enough to know myself. But DI just seems to spark debate, which I find interesting. I had a chance today to decide between adding a minty DI standard, or an EHoH that was just opened. Almost exact price. ($6600 vs $6800). I went with HoH because I haven’t had that one yet. And it will join my SS.

Quoted from underlord:

Yep, reaction is right. And I DIDN’T buy it, so lost sale there. Phone, oversized dolls on pf. Nope.
Same reason I didn’t buy Fat Guy goes to an island pin. Minor character, can’t get past Nedry on PF. I have ZERO illusions how they got him for callouts.
And I wouldn’t buy a JAWS pin from Stern if it only had callouts and art of this guy from the movie:

Oooh! I love that guy! The beach reporter in Jaws! Ol’ whatshisname? Forget Robert Shaw, Roy Scheider and Richard Dreyfus! Build a pin around that dude and Lorraine Gary and I’m Dialed In! Maybe a cameo by Nedry?
