I think the problem is that the game, while it shoots good and seems to have some good ideas, is missing the glue that makes up a cohesive game. Nothing is currently drawing me into feeling like I need to do certain things, like light shows, sound and music. Aliens are attacking some quadrant of the city? so what, the hick construction guy is devoid of feeling and the scientist guy seems like he's incompetent.
Some of this can be attributed to being an early version of the code, but it would be good to get some more fun scenarios going on in the city with some humor injected into the mix. It would also be good to get some background on what I'm doing. if there's a story, tell the story...even if it's a small intro in the beginning of the game that I can flip out of.
It would also be good to see direct hits from the pinball doing things in the city like putting out the fire or destroying the alien saucers. perhaps knocking over trash cans or causing other mayhem for missed shots which could start another mode based on how much damage you caused.
I'm kinda eh about the power company and the phone itself. the phone seems basically like a random mode start, but I should be able to open say a weather application and start a natural disaster in the city...perhaps intentionally, say to put out a fire...you know... if the phone was truly_ powerful. This would be a funny way for the "power company (LIE)" or whatever, to come after the user to try and get the phone back, since I was abusing it.
this could set up another way for me to steal the phone and continue my rampage.
mix in humor which is obviously lacking, voice actors who can invoke some empathy on my part, and we could have a pretty good game.
