    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
    - Currently have concept design sketched out
    - Starting to design the playfield in Fusion360
    - Main concern is clearance from playfield to glass
    - Installing Stern Playfield Pivots and Slides
    - Once I confirm the clearance I will start whitewood

    Cabinet: Stripping/Restoration
    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
    1. Strip Current Vinyl
    2. Sand and Access Joints
    - Re-glue if necessary
    3. Put on Primer Coat
    4. Plan out art with girlfriend
    5. Print art in Vinyl
    6. Apply Vinyl Decals

    Electronics: Mostly Ordered

    Unique Feature: Knucklehead
    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
    - I'm designing a custom mechanism based on the Mascot.

    - Really excited about this part.

    First Update: 10/28/21
Thanks for the word of encouragement folks!
Progress images are from 10/26, and 10/28

    - Donor Cabinet Vinyl is off.
    - Playfield Stripped down to inserts.
    - Emptied inside of cabinet.
    - Joints look good, no need to glue.
    - Stern receiver bar, slides, and supports arrived.
    - Fast Boards arrived.
    - Worked on the design a bit more.

    = To-do Next =
    - Sanding and Sealing, no paint yet.
    - Patching a few bumps in the cabinet.
    - Need to finish cabinet work before electronics
    - Experiment with old playfield:
+ Mounting Stern Stuff to old playfield.
+ Try to get more room between glass/pf.
    - Will update once cabinet work is done!

    Second Update: 11/2/21
Some progress, but a couple roadblocks.
No images today, but will upload more soon.

    = Completed =
    - Sanding and Sealing, is done.
    - Still waiting on materials to patch a couple bumps in the cab.
    - Experiments with old playfield :
+ Mounting Stern Stuff to old playfield.
    - Failed: Stern and Bally/Midway bottoms are way different.
+ Try to get more room between glass/pf.
    - Success: I was able to remove the old playfield slides, and am ready to install the stern ones.

    = To-do Next =
    - Patch a couple spots on the cab (filler coming Friday)
    - Build a base design in CAD for the playfield.
    - Borrow a buddy's CNC machine to get the first whitewood made.

The first whitewood will not have all the bells and whistles.
    - It will have a cut for the trough.
    - Holes for the flippers and slingshots.
    - It will just be for basic prototyping for now.

I'll try to get it into whitewood within the week.
    Thanks for the continued support!

    Third Update: 11/8/21
    Whitewood in progress!
(A few little obstacles, nothing too bad)

    Current Status:
+ CNC calibrated and started first whitewood.
+ Issues with drawing prevented completion.
+ Fixing the drawing and will try again soon!
+ Starting to get a good grasp on Fusion 360

    What’s next:
+ Once the whitewood is made start electronics.
+ Just want to get the lower third made for now.
+ Then I will prototype some shots in cardboard.
+ Acquiring a 3D printer to make a few things.

    Quoted from stefanmader:

could you tell more about your cnc, that thing is amazing. have never seen that kind, it works vertically?! doesn't it wobble on the strings?

It's a MakerMade M2, rather than a traditional CNC it uses a chain system to cut a 4'x8' area. A bit slower than a traditional CNC but I think the trade-offs are great for the build volume and price. The CNC actually belongs to a friend who bought it specifically to do playfields. Calibrated correctly it has the precision of less than 1mm which is pretty cool. After I get my first playfield successfully milled with it I think I'll be able to speak more positively or negatively. The issue with the cutting of the first playfield came from issues with the sketch and g-code rather than the CNC.

Hey Folks, sorry for the delay with updates.

I'm currently about 15 credits away from finishing my degree and have been drowning in coursework lately. My schedule is looking better this month and I plan on on getting my first iteration of the playfield cut and wiring the lower third. The playfield is still a work in progress, the biggest issue with it was not the hardware but the software I used to design the playfield. I work as a programmer so all this woodworking stuff is a little out of my wheelhouse, however I'm doing my best to learn quickly.

This week I plan on completely re-doing the cad drawings in fusion 360 and finding a better option to transfer those files into G-Code. If I can't get this figured out by the end of the month I'm just going to hand cut everything.
