In this picture taken before the glass was removed, the panel is clearly not straight, a little higher on the right side, where I was having trouble with the glass.

I was gonna say this as I’m walking down this thread. I’ve taken out the back glass on this pin more times than I can count. And if that speaker panel isn’t perfectly flush the back glass will not go in. That pic is 100% the reason. Make sure that speaker panel lies perfectly flush. I’m assuming something is in the tract
