Quoted from GRUMPY:TP-3 is a very good place to start.
+1. I'd suggest that C4 is the likely culprit there.
Quoted from wdennie:At this point, he can start a game but flippers don't work, ball launcher doesn't work, and the game apparently keeps saying "No payum, no gayum".
Is implying that the game is not set to free play?
Sounds like something it would say if you had no credits?
I was thinking the same thing - at first. It just sounds like there are some other problems.
Quoted from frunch:Looking at the schematic, it appears the cap at C4 is 18,000 uf. Is that a typo? Just seems like a really big value considering the size of the cap isn't that big. Not that there's necessarily a correlation between size and capacitance, just curious...
DE basically used the same design specs and a lot of the same parts as Williams pins. 18,000uf is the same in many Williams System 11s. You'll usually see the main +5VCDC filtering cap anywhere from around 11,000uf to 21,000uf on these pin supplies. Generally, I would advise staying within about +/-20% of the systems original design and not higher than 21,000uf. The result of higher capacitance is a huge current spike during a very brief recharge period. The larger the capacitor, the shorter the spike interval... but also the larger the capacitor, the larger the spike in amplitude. It is possible to damage your bridge rectifier due to too large of a filter capacitor. You can also go anywhere up from the WVDC (working voltage DC) but never lower.
