I took some slo mo video of my machine, and mine is not hitting that post. It appears to be bouncing up and hitting the curved rail at the wrong angle. Maybe your fix will help that, too, keeping the ball to the right, but I’m not prepared to pull that section apart at the moment.
I took mine apart today, and I didn’t see what I expected. From your pics, I thought that there was a tab on the ramp that anchored into the wall, but it just sits on its own post. My brain tells me that washers will just raise the whole thing up, but apparently not, since it worked for you. I put my ramp in a vise and gave it a slight “lean” to the right in hopes that it would ride the wall properly. It’s better, but not perfect.
Now that I see how simple it is to take apart, I’ll try the washer trick next time.
