Picked one up last week and the whole family loves it!

I'm going to shop my DM and I'm looking for opinions. Should I go with the white or black rubber kit?

There are two Titan kits that now fit the bill as well.

Black rings & post, red flippers - https://www.titanpinball.com/kits/index.php/view/id/486

Got my new plastics and plastic protectors!

Playfield protector is in. The only thing missing is a rubber kit.

Quoted from Gogojohnnyquack:

Did you get these from Marcos? And the playfield protector? I have a Demo Man coming from Europe that isn't currently working. When I get it working it will be time to order new plastics, rings, and a playfield protector. Do you have a protector on anything else? What do you think about it? I am working on a Pinbot, stripped the mylar off, and am planning on a playfield protector for it too. Thanks!

Plastics and plastic protectors are from Bay Are Amusements. This is my first playfield protector( http://playfield-protectors.com ), but they came highly recommended. I'm actually considering one for my Pinbot as well.

#586 7 years ago

Titan is out of red flipper rubbers! No ETA on the restock.

Now I'm leaning towards all light blue rings with black posts or all black like the factory.

Any opinions out there?

#588 7 years ago
Quoted from Gogojohnnyquack:

I'm considering orange rings and flippers (fluorescent orange would be perfect!), with either light blue or gray posts.

Interesting. Funny thing is the manual says that half the posts in the game should be blue, but I've never seen that.

I would definitely considering swap out the posts to blue and going with a different color ring.

Anyone know where I can buy a claw magnet?

The magnet is just a modified coil, SZ-33-3000.
https://bayareaamusements.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=WC-SZ-33-3000

If you look a the bottom of it, you can see the plate that becomes the magnet when charged.

My DM wasn't in the best shape when I got it and it was definitely missing a few things. Now that I'm getting everything squared away, I hit a small snag.

I cannot identify where the two pieces of plastic indicated in the picture go. Can someone help me out?

#595 7 years ago
Quoted from tomh52722:

The one on the right side of your picture goes right in front of the board with the lights that indicate whether demolition time or computer are lit. For that one, there is only screw, which is on the back side of the piece.
For the other one. It goes under the right ramp, just in front of the right pop bumper.

Here is where they went.

Quoted from Spyderturbo007:

Has anyone run into an issue where the elevator come up, the claw grabs the ball and then the claw just sits there until ball search? Is there a sensor that tells the claw that it successfully grabbed the ball? Mine doesn't this on a completey random basis.

I encountered a similar issue during the teardown recently.

To check the GI I powered on the game and the claw/elevator wants a bit haywire. While both systems had power, the optometrist sensors had yet to be reconnected. Given this, I would double check all your connections.

#608 7 years ago
Quoted from nerdygrrl:

I'll be picking up my DM next week. My friend insists that the first order of business will be flipper and pop rebuilds as well as a shop out. I've been thinking of doing some Titan bands on the game. Anybody done these? What color scheme did you use? Got pics?

I just did the Titan bands in white and light blue for the flippers. I really like the bands throughout the game, but I'm not in love with the flippers.

Thanks, it sounds like hey just scanned these and didn't bother to vectorize and fix the art. This is what I was afraid of. *sigh*

The set I got from Bay Area looks real nice to me.

I replaced all the crazy GI colors in my DM with white. I like to see everything going on.

Joined the club again and the game isn't as nice as the one I did before. I plan on doing a similar treatment as before(posts, plastics, less, etc). Also thinking hard about the siderails and lockdownbar.

Quoted from ChrisPINk25:

Hey all, I'm new to the club and am excited to play some demo man! Question for the group, are you using a 3amp slow blo in F116 that the manual states or 5 amp? Mine came with 5 installed, but I have an opto issue that blew that fuse, so am wondering.

Always use the factory fuse. Bigger fuses are installed usually to cover a problem right before a pin gets sold. If it's blowing your 5AMP, you need to isolate what is causing the issue and repair/replace.

Amassing parts for my current project machine and I'm on the fence about new rails. I stumbled across these and I'm seriously considering it.

http://pinballsidemirrors.com/product/williams-side-rails/

The game currently has black legs, standard trim and I want to do something a little different. Since this will be a keeper, I want to powder coat and am leaning towards Sterling Charcoal Gunmetal throughout(rails, lockdown bar, legs, door, gun handles).

https://www.thepowdercoatstore.com/products/sterling-charcoal-gunmetal-powder-coating

Thoughts?

On my first DM I pulled all my ball guides, re-grained, polished and the problem went away.

So.. The mylar over the inserts for both inlanes has a bubble. Ignore it or try and pull it? I'm afraid to damage the insert text because I can't find decals out there for the repair.

Thoughts?

#1044 5 years ago
Quoted from Pinhead306:

The mirror blades need extra holes then the normal ones for where your gun handle bolts go through.

I was thinking of doing art blades or carbon fiber vinyl in either light grey or blue.

I may end up with an extra olds 44 if my buddy doesn't take it. Not sure what they go for. Prob less than I paid.

Triggers are unobtainium.. I'd like to take my set to someone to have them duplicated, but I haven't found anyone to do it.

I fell like there is a market for at least 100 which is the minimum I believe you would need to break even. Unfortunately, they would not be injection molded as that makes the startup cost way out of reach.

#1069 5 years ago

All the 3D printed stuff I've used hasn't been terribly strong. What printer and filament did they use?

#1070 5 years ago

Any interest in a complete cabinet decal set?

I picked these up a little while ago and never used them. https://pinballpt.com/blog/2014/10/demo-man-cabinet-decal-set/

It looks like I'm selling my DM and have some other extra parts as well.

This is what I've found in local market (new ad, for sale at local guy):[quoted image][quoted image]

I'd buy these myself if I was there. How much does he want for them?

#1084 5 years ago
Quoted from robd222:

Darn, that file is probably worth at least 60 bucks. I've put calls into a couple print shops and am waiting for a reply. I picked up one from fellow owner gweempose in the meantime. I think i will call a machine shop as well and see what it's gonna take to make some metal ones. If i have a batch of either made I'll make some available for other owners. Thanks again everyone

The quotes I was getting from injection mold shops are $100 each plus mold creation fees. Yikes.

Quoted from Ceckitti:

I took my first crack at making a mod. This is one that I have had in my head for years. Finally motivated myself to try it. It’s pretty rough so be gentle lol.
It’s supposed to be the frozen ball that shows on the dmd when you “freeze/lock” one.
This is a very rough draft prototype. My goal is to have it light up when you lock a ball. Right now I just have it turn on when the claw is ready.
So....release the hounds on me and tell me what you think. Or suggestions to make it better. Or...tell me to give up it’s stupid lol.

Nice. Your rough draft is better than a lot of release products. For me, it's a little large, but I really like where you're going.

Quoted from trueno92:

Its the only gun sorta thing i found that would fit.
I sorta lost interest when i couldnt get the rotating beacon led to work right. Needs some finishing on the muzzle but maybe ill get to it as my other project game is almost complete.
The purple leds inside the gun light when the acmag crane led goes on.[quoted image]

Cool idea. I need to look into 3D printed options.

Looking for leads on finger triggers for DM… just need the plastic or metal trigger piece. Found them at pinball center in Germany and it populated 840 euros as shipping charge for that any sources? Thanks

I think I have an STL for them if you want to try 3d printed; They won't be as pretty, but the will work. I can also check and see if I have any of the metal triggers left.

Quoted from WhiskeyTango:

I'll print a test one today with the filament I have in the printer and see how it comes out.

Came out pretty good with with some extra walls for strength.

I have a few. Sorry for the crappy picture.

Nice! Resin printed?

#2087 2 years ago
Quoted from yfz450:

Yes. Abs resin

Cool. Depending on the orientation for FDM, either the button actuator or shoulder pins are a little weak. I'm assuming it's a bit stronger throughout with that resin.

I know it’s a long shot but is there any chance at getting the “Demo man on Steroids” software upgrade package?
I already reached out to the people that originally made it and never heard anything back. Checking here, thanks!

I've worked on a couple of these and it's a lot of parts and wiring to make it work.

Quoted from sullivcd40:

I finally joined the club this past week! I'm going to be shopping it out over the next week or so, looks like it might be a tough one to take apart. The only issues I've noticed so far are the upper rebound switch not registering, a very intermittent underground vuk lack of power, and an overly powerful upper flipper. I'm excited to get this one cleaned up and dialed in!

I created this years ago when I installed a playfield protector on my Demo Man; It's by no means comprehensive, but it should help.
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/demolition-man-resto

FWIW, I removed it from the game pretty soon thereafter. lol
