Quoted from bighurb:I think he’s talking about this in the back, if I remember correctly it only has flashers in there but it looks cool if you add some lights to make it light up permanently.

I wired lights that correspond with the M T L rollover switch lights since you can't see them on the PF.
Just joined the club, and I must say I’m so incredibly impressed with this pin. The flow, combos, ramps, all feel amazing. Such a fun game. The shot geometry and use of the ramps to create even more space is fantastic. They really don’t make them like this anymore. I found one with swear ROMs and color DMD, and I’m going to deck it out. LEDs, alt trans, new legs, chrome handles from Chris Royalty, and more. This one is a keeper and already a fav of mine!

Welcome! Its a great game that keeps getting better the more it kicks your ass.
Has anyone tried putting an extra strong FL-17636 flipper coil on their left flipper? Even after rebuilds, etc I still have trouble making the right ramp well...
Quoted from Sk0r:Update: So, I realized this morning that the magnet wires were not the original ones, see pictures below.
For some reason, I always overlooked these two wires as I was too obsessed with the opto board as the culprit. Considering the magnet is acting up, I thought this hack could be causing the weird behavior. I went ahead and cut the soldered wires and molex connector to directly connect the wires with a terminal strip. No luck unfortunately, issue is still there.
I checked J907 and J902, they visually look OK. I also checked the magnet wiring, it's matching what I'm seeing on other DM owners pictures. Issue happens regardless of the input (top trigger buttons or cabinet ball launch).
I have uploaded a couple of video showing exactly what happens. I wrote something wrong yesterday as the claw doesn't freeze after I push the trigger buttons or the Ball Launch trigger. Instead, it pauses for about 1 second, then moves slightly left and drops the ball (again, except for Chase Simon): https://drive.google.com/open?id=13bsUepQNYA9qGOFxUJ3CDkbOwElPb98N
Any idea?

Fixed this, finally! The claw arm was too low causing the balls to be a bit too close to the microswitches. I guess that was causing some kind of power transfer with the metallic leaf preventing the balls from properly dropping. I put a small blob a blu-tack to raise the arm and now everything works perfectly.
Hi all! Happy to have joined the club today. Love this game! I do have a question, it may be a general pinball question but, my flipper buttons and the trigger buttons on the handles are very soft. The flipper itself seems strong it can make it up the ramps and everything, but the buttons themselves have no life in them. It makes it difficult to hit the buttons twice quickly and just harder in general to be precise.
Has anybody dealt with this before? I'm more worried about the trigger ones as that things probably more of a pain to work on.

Might just need to adjust/replace the springs in them.
Just picked up a Demolition man pin and I love it, I'm going to do a complete restore and add a few mods. I have already bought a NOS playfield and turned out the guy I got it from had it signed by Dennis the designer! I'm waiting on a bunch of parts to show up before I start the playfield swap. I also have the alt backglass cause In December I'm going to galaxycon to have a few of the actors from the original movie sign it. Plastic set, playfield protector, eye, hot wheels cars, new legs, new coin door, decal set and a few mods have already been ordered and some installed like the color dmd and the most up to date profanity rom installed (a must have in my opinion). I'm very excited for this project!

Great game and should be higher in top 100 list as far as im concerned.
congrats and welcome.

Are you looking for one in any condition? or a NOS one?
I MIGHT have an extra one that is damaged a little. Ill check.
Hello, I just picked up a DM that has seen some better days. It powered up when I got it but would not start a game. Half the switch matrix was out and I was able to fully restore that to function including the claw in test mode. Now that I am further along in getting it fully functional again I had a couple questions I wanted to check. I know I have issues on the PD board and Flipptronics board, and I am waiting on the components to fix those. I am now trying to clean up bad splices and wiring that I have noticed so that I don't just burn up the new components on those boards once I replace them.
1. Once the switch matrix was working I quickly discovered that the right ramp diverter was not working. I suspect this was the culprit that took out the lines in the PDB. It looks like the coil was recently replaced (before I got it) but I want to make sure it is wired properly. The wire diagram from the manual says that there should be two power lines from J107 running to the coil (Red/BRN and Red/BLK)
Edited from page 110 of the DM Manual
It appears only the high power is wired.
Should I add a daisy chain from the nearest low power coil (Right Jet probably) to the power lug on the diverter coil with the high power connection? If so, wouldn't that energize the rest of the low power string with high power? Can someone post a pic of your diverter coil so I can see how it is wired?
2. Each of the flashers has a large and small resistor soldered to it.
The colors look different in real life vs this picture
When I put what colors the bands appear to be into a resistor calculator, Brown:Grey:Gold:Gold, I get 1.8 ohms with a tolerance of 5%. The bands appear to be the same on both the larger and smaller resistor. All of these look like they were added later in this games life, at least the smaller ones do, and they are all electrical taped (poorly). At the very least I plan to replace the electrical tape with heat shrink. I just wanted to confirm that both resistors were necessary or if I should remove one or both of them?
Until I get the rest of my components in, this is about all I have questions with at the moment. Thanks in advance for any insights on these two things. Have a good one.
After 8 years, I’m out. Demo Man was my most played game for quite a few years. I just loved the flow of the game. But like every pinball machine I’ve ever owned, eventually I played so many games on it that it no longer excited me. That took about 6 years of hard play. So the last couple years, it got less and less play. And the last year was just when other people were at my house. So it was time to go. No regrets. I really loved that darn game.
I don’t think I’ll miss it, because I’ve played it so many thousands of times. But if I see one at someone’s house, I’m sure I’ll enjoy it.

Will do, thanks for the headsup!
Joined the club today
This one to my surprise still has the goody bags intact
What a rad game way way way underrated
Was not looking to join so glad I did
I actually never gave the game any time would just pass over it
I’m sure I am in the minority but I actually like the backglass
Got a price I couldn't refuse for a pretty nice (albeit hideously-lit) Demo Man so I brought her home on the heels of selling my F-14 heap.
A quickie LED job done, it looks better than it did. A few things need adjusted (sling sensitivity, etc--nothing major) and at some point it could probably use new rubber. Also, I haaaaate the white LEDs used throughout the controlled lighting. It looks so much more washed out than my color-matched T2. That'll have to change at some point, for sure. Then the handles need rechromed and the boards need the typical 30-year maintenance to get them to the next 30 years.
All in all I really like the game thus far. Assuming it doesn't kill me getting it downstairs (need to label the plugs and pull the head--no way in hell I'm trying with it all in tact) I think it'll look great next to the aforementioned T2.
Glad to be in the club!

Haha! Go Chiefs and Royals!
I think I'm going to sprinkle in a couple light blue bulbs here and there, and I'm working on coming matching bulbs but I'm low on pink 2SMD wedges and red 2SMD (both types). There's definitely a big difference between the color matched bulbs and the cool white it came with..
Not as noticeable in this picture but the top arrow is much less vivid with the cool white bulb. The others are all red 2SMDs.
IMG_20200817_111544 (resized).jpgAnyone in the club have a spare trigger? One of mine has snapped off the pegs. Feel free to PM me, thanks!
Quoted from jwilson:Anyone in the club have a spare trigger? One of mine has snapped off the pegs. Feel free to PM me, thanks!
jwilson waldo34 made some excellent metal triggers about 8 months ago. He may have some left. If not, somebody on this board may have their old plastic one laying around. I have not installed my metal one yet, so can't offer you my plastic triggers yet.
Quoted from jwilson:Anyone in the club have a spare trigger? One of mine has snapped off the pegs. Feel free to PM me, thanks!
Im about to rebuild mine here in the next few weeks. Im replacing both triggers with NOS. Id offer on of the old ones, but for some reason they have burn marks on them (cigarette???). Ill send a pic once they are off if you havent found any by then.

Thank you! Getting tough to figure out what is expendable at this point... Eventually my eight ball deluxe needs to be fit in as well... Oops

Customized Sound ROM?
I'm wondering how challenging it is to make a custom sound ROM for Demo Man.
With all due respect, hearing Stallone's roar/yell to mark every jackpot is annoying.
My instinct is to reach for Pinball Browser, but I realize that software won't work on a game of this vintage.
What are my options? Do I have to pay someone to make me a custom sound ROM? If so, whom?
Thanks.

Yes, you need to buy a Pinsound board. Then you are just changing WAV files on the sd card.
Otherwise, well someone made the HOME version of the ROMs with swears. However, I would think getting a custom one done would be much more expensive than a Pinsound board.
(no, not associated with them, but I own a couple of them)

Very helpful!
I'll look into it.
I can use Pinball Browser to make a new/modified SD card for the board, yes?
Quoted from DaveH:someone made the HOME version of the ROMs with swears.
That someone was Lyman, who did it as a exercise to learn the WPC system after moving to WMS from Sega.

The Home swear ones have the same jackpot sound from Sly. But still worth having.
Quoted from Jason_Jehosaphat:I can use Pinball Browser to make a new/modified SD card for the board, yes?
There is no need for Pinball Browser in this case. Pinball Browser is for editing the bin files (I ignore that it handles spike now because I hated editing spike games).
For the PinSound board, you can just load the SD card from the download. That will have a bunch of directories, and each will have the WAV files directly in it. You can just remove the WAV that is there, and drop in a different one. So in your case, you would find the offending scream, and then just replace it with sound from Sandra Bullock saying "You really licked his ass" or something else
It will make more sense if you download the current gamesound for the board. You will see the structure, and it is pretty straightforward.
