Ok my quest for all clear when off and blue when on continues. eBay 1/32” discs that are 7/8” diameter are almost a perfect fit. I had to sand around the edge until it fit inside the cover. I used rub on transfers for the lettering. Put Mylar over the top to keep the letters from falling off.

GreenMachine19 I love what yo've done so far. That machine looks so clean and slick.

So my newest acquisition DM had metal repair tape on the chute on lower side of pf. Luckily I found one of the broken pieces in bottom of cab.

Welded it in and rewelded the factory crap welds.

Excellent work. Not an easy weld from what I’ve been told.

#1361 5 years ago

Nice work! I sent mine off to Mantis two weeks ago. I'm hoping this is something he can fab.

#1362 5 years ago

I would love to know " The rest of the story " behind these scoops . It looks to me like the fab shop that made them had all the pieces just tacked up to be welded . Then they were shipped before they were fully welded . If they were anywhere else other than 3" from the flipper they might of held up better. Mine had to be Tig welded also !

Barely tacked at all. looks unfinished.

Does Great Lakes Modular still sell the revised claw opto boards? My claw is still... twitchy even after the connector fix. I want to replace, and then if it still doesn't work, replace the motor board under the playfield. The motor board is in stock in a few places, but the opto board? Friggin NOWHERE.

GLM is out of business. Tony admitted the site is up but no one can buy anything. A real tease.

Well damn. I have no idea where I can source this board, then.

#1367 5 years ago

Did anyone else even ever make them?

It's a pretty simple board. Besides from replacing the optos and header, not much can really be done...

Suppose I could buy the optos, resistors, header, and diodes and replace EVERY component, see if that works.

PITA though. Paying $25 and getting a new board would have been much easier.

Stock plunger reads “Launch Ball”. Someone at some point put what I think is a Data East “Start” button. I don’t really like either. Anyone have any ideas what I should put that fits the theme? Murder Death Kill? Freeze?

That looks awesome GreenMachine!

On an unrelated note: I have a pair of blue halo buttons to install that I got from a fellow Pinsider. They have resistors for the leds to power up from 12v at coin door board. Which way on resistors? I’m sure polarity matters.

And I checked the website...zero info.

#1378 5 years ago

Resistor don't have polarity but you want to connect the resistor to the + on that light/switch.

Not mine but this mod is explained in detail in this thread. Just type "buttons" in the search bar of this thread and you will see how to do the whole mod. Its being done by small children so you can see that its not that hard.

I have an extra pair of the red LED angel eye elevated buttons that I didn't use. PM me if interested. I did them in blue and never got to put the red in before selling my DM. Yes, I miss it.

I second the motion! I really like the “original” version that got vetoed by Wesley Snipes that they used for the DM on steroids. Would like to get my hands on one of those.

Hey fellow Demo Man owners I am considering picking up a nice DM locally, but would like any tips for specific mechanical issues/areas to look at. I know the arm is notorious for having problems? Thank you for and insight.

when I first got mine had severe wear on outer loop where ball lands after shooting , and up around the " jackpot" hole .repeating bounce had minced the plywood to a foam like feel . had to grind 2 ply thickness to get back to solid wood .bog , paint ans 2pac clear , you wouldn't know if I didn't tell you . I think it payed for itself previously!!!!!

#1398 5 years ago

Thanks Guys, so wear will be a non-issue on this machine... I mean its probably the cleanest one i have ever seen. A Co-Worker has owned it for like 8 years, I he says that its never been routed, and I believe it. Thank you for the input
