All of the optos quit. This has been a constant problem. They all work for awhile then they all quit. I am just stumped. I have switched out the CPU Power board and opto board with boards that I know work and still nothing. Im just stumped.

Nothing??

#3 8 years ago

all. even the trough optos? You've checked 12V power obviously since you swapped boards. make sure you are getting power to the opto board under the playfield consistently. Probably a pinched or bad jumper wire.

#4 8 years ago

The trough optos must work. It knows when the balls drain.

Is this the opto board you replaced? The 7-opto board under the playfield?

Does the LED on that board light up to indicate the presence of 12 volts?

I will check.

know for sure the crane optos the underground optos the car optos and the multiball/extra ball shot don't work. the trough ones must be working cause it knows how many balls are in there.

LED on the opto board and both trough opto boards are bright red.

All that is controlled by the board listed above probably needs c1 replaced , that be a cheap fix to try

Trough is fine as they are separate from your issues , but im guessing the 7 opto board cap is leaking or dried out .

im still just stumped on this. Any suggestions??

#14 8 years ago

what is the regulated 12 volts showing with your DMM at the driver board?

#15 8 years ago

Please telk me how to check...

#16 8 years ago

not very familiar with a meter. I did switch the board with another one I know is working.

#17 8 years ago

Which boards have you switched?

#18 8 years ago

CPU power and the opto under the PF. Actually put bthem in a different machine and they all work fine. Its GOT to be a bad connection somewhere that comes and goes. As I said It quit working then worked for awhile now its not working.

There are three small connectors (i believe 3 or 4 pins) at the bottom left of the driver board that power the optos. One could have come off. but again you need to use a DMM and check the regulated 12 volts at the driver board. If you don't know how to do this, you need to find someone that knows how to do it and show you with their meter.

I have a meter I just don't know how to see if a connection is complete. This machine has all of the crappy IDC connectors-about to just start repinning.

I am convinced the connectors are bad on the CPU. I think I need to replace J209 and J 207 both are 9 pin IDC. Where can I buy these and do I need to buy the tool to connect also??
