Awesome Peter!
I think the blue screen printing color should be matched to the new playfield plastic set....right?
Good job Peter!

No, we are only printing with the nice full color shades of the original boards.
It is important for us to match the colors as close as possible. Different shades can make the playfield look off.

I received your Email. I am feeling good about this! Looking forward in getting my new playfield!
...Peter, before you clear coat mine, I need you to have Steve Ritchie autograph the upper playfield between Hitman and Gen. Yagov.
It will go good with my autographed translite.
Don't forget to autograph and date the underside yourself if you don't mind.
Jon

Hi.
I can send you the F-14 playfield with a sanded clear coat, then you can ask Steve Ritchie to sighn the playfield, then you can send it for a final clear coat to some one in the US. Let me know if this will work for you.
Ill be happy to sign the playfield with date under the appron?

Hello to all.

We have some dimples from both sides, enough to place the parts correctly. We only have the version with the lite sockets,
not the version with the light boards, all our sample playfields were equipt with singel lite sockets for the flying arrow lite rows.

We have glued inserts on 60 Playfields and are now busy sanding them down so we can bring the first bunch of playfields
to the paint shop to get the primer.

The pre-order list will close on the 9th of September.

Peter

#267 7 years ago

Basic is 2 coats. The first bunch of playfieds had been clear coated on Friday the 4th.
As soon as the clear has settled we will apply the second coat.

#270 7 years ago

Hello to all

After the second coat has setteled, we will check them and then decide if a 3rd coat is needed.
At the Moment there is not another Option to do custom clear coating. To do a decent mirrow finish it can take upto
2 years, and then you can still see the outlines of inserts after the clear coat has settled completly. But we will do our best to get a
decent Playfield out to you.

It would be the best to let the Playfield rest for atleast 6 months. Then sand and apply another clear coat layer and wait again and repeat until you are satisfied.
Kruzman would also be an option.

Sorry the late update, we are fighting to get all packed and shipped out.
The next bunch will receive an mail today.

DHL will send you a message with the tracking nr.

About 50% of the boards need another clear coat, we dont just want to send them out like that,

Those will be shipped out approx 2 - 3 weeks time.

To be on the safe side you can wait another 4 weeks before starting the first game.
We are also going to wait another 4 weeks before we start a game on our F-14, cant wait to see the speed.

We ahve updated our Home Pages a bit, not finished yet, we will continue, but now you can see the lined up playfields

Hello to all.

We are happy to see that the playfields are rolling in now.
Thank you for all your patient and thanks for the acnoledgement, we really apritiate it.
The Mark in the Raster is in the original films that Williams used. We were not sure if its a mistake or if
something should have been printed in that area. Looking at the pixels in the original data, the you can see that the raster
is running out towards that area, and above that area the raster gets stronger again. We decided to print them as they were printed.

We wish you all a Happy New Year and all the best for 2017.

In January we will start of with Getaway and Terminator 2 Judgement day.

Hi

Yes, it is a 2 part automotive clear coat.

If you have the possiblility to "bullet proof" it, it would always be better.
Please note that we cannot do custom clear coating on production runs, but we do our best
and we put extra clear coats if the first 2 coats dont work out well. All the material are very fresh
on production runs, with the time it will dimple. If you have the time, then it would be better to let the clear coat settle
for atleast 6 months and then give it to a "professional" for extra clear coating.

Yes, let the playfield rest for atleast 30 days.
You can also test the coat with your finger nail. Take a spot,
for example were the fire back coil gets mounted, Feel the hardness of the clear coat.
If you leave marks easly with your finger nail, then it is not ready to mount. If its very hard
to make a mark, then its ready for mounting.

Hello to all

It makes us proud that you are all happy with our hand craft work, that is the best loan that we can receive, Thank you.
The time was now to stand up for we were mentioned having Ghosting problems. We did have a ghosting problem,
the problem was man made and not because the clear and paints dont match. 8 Boards didnt get primered, 1 paint both
load. Having no primer on the inserts caused the ghosting, the clear coat couldnt hold to the plastic insert. In the last few months,
we are often asked if our playfields are having issues with clear coat, others have canceled thier pre-order, others dont respons to mails.
So we decided to take a video showing how we break down the art print and the clear coat. We did expect attleast some clear coat chipping
off while hammering the insert. The insert is cracked but we cant see any ghosting, the clear coat is badly dented and the hammer left deep
dimples in the wood area. I think we have now showed that our playfields dont have the issues that certian other playfield manufactures have.
Knock 3 times on wood.

Have a nice day

Peter, I got one from PPS a couple months ago so you can take me off the list. I hadn't realized they had stock of it and was ordering something else there and decided to look at the playfields and there it was.... had thought they were sold out everywhere until then.
That was an expensive intended $14 parts order but the PF is gorgeous.... now, when will I have time to swap it in?

Hello to all.

We have a delay on printing. Boards are ready but we need to reprint more than half the run of Road Show.
The screens still have the Road Show in them, so we need to do them first. Here is what we posted .
As soon as we finished the Road Show printing, we will bring back the screens to get F-14 into them.
Sorry the delay.

Today was a day that we actualy didnt want to do our work. Unfurtunitly the clear coat foamed on 50% of the Road Show Playfields. The presure was set far to high in our system which caused this disaster. Today we sanded off the clear coat and the print. We will have to re-print these boards. We do have enough of Road Show playfields for those how pre-ordered. This will delay the F-14 for a couple of weeks and ofcourse further projects. Well that is live I gues, we didnt want to leave it that way, it was hard to notice but it is not our standard and the clear coat would not be as strong as it should. Work is finished now,

Hello to all.
Here we go again, after a long wait for pigments and latley a bit of time off we could eventually start printing F-14 today. The white worked out well, was a bit tricky and we had to re adjust the paint a few times for it is to warm, the paint dries before it can level out.
White is on, next will be yellow. Maybe we can print 2 colors from now on.
We will keep updating.

Hi
Last week Wednesday we wanted to print the next color, yellow. As we put in the screen, we noticed that the screen, the artwork , was copied in wrong, mirrored. We went through all screens and found a second wrong copied screen. We brought back the screens to the screen maker. Yesterday the screens were delivered. Today we tried to catch up, we printed 3 colors. Yellow orange and red. Now we are halway, 4 colors printed and 4 to go. We will try to print atleast 1 color a day. We would like to do it all in 1 go, but we have many jobs to do.
Hope you are enjoying to see how the print is building up slowly, color for color, genuen silk screening.

Hello again.
between milling Alien and Queen playfields, gluing inserts and packing parcels we printed 2 colors since the last update. We have the light blue and the dark blue printed. We still need the green and the the final, the black. The colors all came out perfect, the registration of the colors are nearly spot on. Difficult to print at the moment, the 1 day you have 31 degrees, the next morning it is 18 degrees. For each print the colors must be adjusted and the pressure of the squeegee reduced or aply more to control the size
of the print. The more presure, the more the screen streches.
Now we will mill a couple of hours and then off for this weekend.
Next week we will finish the printing. In that time we will hopefully have the gitares, ( mini playfield) for Queen finished milling, then we will through the F-14 on that milling machine for finish milling.
Hope you are injoying the process of printing.
Have a nice weekend

Today we finished printing the F-14 Playfields. They turn out fantastic.
Now we will let all paints cure for a few days and then start with the last milling step. After milling we will take them to the paint shop for clear coating.

Hello to all

Sorry the delay. The paint shop did not clear coat them yet. We were there yesterday again, they started to clear coat the F-14 yesterday.
We hope they will keep them in a warm room so we can start shipping out end of next week.

We are busy building our new facility, hope we can get all finished until Jan. 23 We will have our own paint booth. We will
also have a very modern sanding machine, electronically controlled. Having now all done in our own facility will speed up production
and cut the delays down. We have also imployed a painter.
Machines and Parts, also Parts for the paint booth will be delivered on the 28th and 29th Nov.

At this point we want to thank all for your patient and your trust, many thanks.

Hello to all

Yesterday we have started packing the F-14 Tom Cat playfields. While seeing through them we have noticed that some playfields
have Ghosting on edges on several inserts. On other playfields we found some inserts with tension cracks. This can only happen
during primer procedure, the paint shop has done something wrong while applying primer. We could not notice it for we get the boards
back sanded and the top of the inserts are then blunt. We regret this, we can’t send out the playfields like this. The only solution is to sand all off and start again.
This is a massive back blow for our company and a big disappointment. We can only apologize. We didn’t want to just send out the playfields like this, some look good but they will all have this problem. We can’t risk to send out the boards that look good, it would be a disaster if you finished assembling your game and then get hit with a Ghosting issue on the inserts.
We will start sanding the playfields down next week, get the tension cracked inserts swopped and see if we can get them primered before Christmas. We are busy printing Terminator 2 playfields. As soon as they are printed, we will get the screens to the screen maker to copy in F-14 again. Hopping that we can get all done until Feb – Mar. 2023.

The tension cracks happen once the primer is applied and, for some reason, there are other chemicals flying around in the air that will then react, or the wrong cleaner has been used and reacts. Another reason could be that the paint shop sanded throw the primer and then the cleaner chemically reacts. The last sound more reasonable at this moment for we have ghosting around the edges of the inserts.
Her are some pictures of the damages.

Sorry that this happened, we were working hard to get these F-14 playfields out tomorrow so that you could receive them before Christmas.

Regards from Hamburg
Leon and Peter

Hello to all.
It has been some time were we updated. We have a delay but need to finish our new facility as quick as possible. We need to get the clear coating done our selves. The paint shop has messed up so much work, Not only the F-14 Playfields. We will get the paint booth finished in Feb and will beable to do the clear coating ourselves. Sorry, we know you are all waiting for your playfields and we are really pushing to get them done. They are sanded down and the damaged inserts have been taken out. Next week we will receive the new produced inserts. We will start gluing them as soon as they arrive.

In the mean time, a small update on our new facility.
We are getting on with the new facility. All the equiptment has been delivered and we could start building up the paintbooth. The paint booth is nearly finished, we are a bit further than the pictures are showing, the last wall of the paint booth is completed, next step is to pull in the ceeling. Small little things like lite and clean up the walls, paint them to get a smooth finishing.
Attached are some pictures.
We will get the paint booth finished next week. We will also get the air chanels mounted, incomming air with heating system and out going air with the filter system. That is all still a bit tricky, but then it will be easy going.
Then we still need to finish the walls for the curing rooms, that should go fast, straight forward walls, easy going.
We will place a new update soon.
Wish you all a nice Sunday.

Hello to all.
Here is a short video, F-14 Tom Cat, showing how we are sanding off the artwork and all down to the wood again. This step went real fast with the new sanding machine. What really took a long time was to take out the damaged inserts, 1 by one. Cant just hit them out for the wood will then get damaged.
We are trying to get them redone as fast as possible. Unfortunately
we must build our new facility and on top we still need to keep the production of Alien and Queen going.
At the same time we are preparing to print Terminator, as well as producing and packing plastic parts for shops worldwide.
We should be ready for printing the F-14 in approx. 3 weeks, the rest will be easy going.
We will update with new video and pictures of F-14 and T2 and once we get the next chance, some more info’s on the new facility.
Once the new facility is up and running, we will speed up our repro playfield production.
Next in the line will be Black Rose.
Have a nice day

Hello to all

A short update to the F-14 Tom Cat playfields.
First I want to apologize for the bad delay.

We are in a bad situation not able to do our actual work.
Since October we have rented a new facility, having to install electric, build up walls for paint booth, incoming, outgoing air channels and
curing rooms, setting up milling machines and the new sanding machine with vacuum unit and getting all the machinery moved over.
We had a lot of delays with the suppling companies for machinery, delay from week to week to months.
At the same time we needed to keep up the production for Pinball Brothers, Alien, and start the new model Queen.
Supply shops worldwide with spare parts. We are all exhausted, the work grew over our heads.
At the same time my Father was hit with a stroke, living alone, My wife and me had to also take care of him, he is now
able to walk a few steps and is making good progress. We had to quit his apartment and move all out, do wall work, taking out the complete kitchen until end of this month.
It is nearly done, 1 truck load to go, the land lord has inspected the apartment and is satisfied with our work. On Tuesday we will hand over keys.
The new facility is nearly built up so that we can at least start working, tomorrow we will do the electric for the incoming air, there is a heating system so we can also do clear coating in winter.
There is still a lot that needs to be done and I’m sure that while we are working we will need to do some changes, but the biggest job is done and we can start doing our work on playfields
very soon. We will not have to rely on the paint shop anymore and we have the control over the primer and clear coat work. F-14 will be the first boards that will receive primer
in the new facility, looking forward.

I want to express our heartily thanks to you all for your patients, we highly appreciate it.

Hello to all.

Our new facility is, so far, up and we can work. The main things have been finalized. Production is speed up now. There are still alot to do, building walls and rooms but we are set up and working.

Terminator 2 Playfields.
We have now started to print the Terminator 2 Judgement Day playfields. The white and the 3 gray shades are printed. Alltogether it is 11 colors, 7 more to go. Tomorrow we will continue.

F-14 Tom Cat Playfields
We have taken out the brocken inserts and replaced them with new inserts. The boards will be ready for printing as soon as we finished printing T2. Once T2 is finished, we will take the screens to the screen maker and get F-14 copied into them. It looks like we can get the screens to the screem maker by end of next week. We will try and push them a bit.
Thanky you for all your patients, we really appriciate it.
Looking forward to get the F-14 finalized again.
Allthough the errors in the batch could not be seen by many people
we still could not send them out knowing about these issues, it might have gone good, but we didnt just want to send them out like that. We are very greatfull that 80% of the paid pre-orders are prepared to wait until the playfield are redone. Many many thanks.

We wish all a nice weekend

We will start milling Black Rose and get inserts glued.

Hi.
I just checked but could find an email with your user name. We dont have track on users names, only on email adresse.
It looks like the paint shop didnt apply the primer decently, or the sanded it to much and took it off again. I think second is
more relavent.
We are very busy at this time, still need to build alot in the new facility and we need to catch up months and months of work.
Screens will be taken to the screen maker on Monday to get F-14 copied into them.
I will answer all unread emails over the week end, appologize for the delayed answer.

Hello to all.
We have started to print the F-14 Tom Cat playfields. We have printed the white and the yellow.
We have had some nerve wrecking waiting time for the screens to be made, eventually they were delivered. We had to use sticky tape over the complete back side of the boards to close all the holes. If the holes stay open we cannot build up vacuum to hold the boards in position while printing them. To 2 and a half days, need to be very neat, not 1 fold, so the boards will lay flat on the vacuum table.
The outcome of the print is very nice, weather is warmer, the paints flow nicely.
We will try to print at least 1 color every day, we will push hard to get these done as soon as possible.

Regards from Hamburg,

We actualy dont do it this way, These playfields showed up that the paint shop didnt primer them and we had ghosting on insert that showed up before shipping them out. So these we had to sand off and redo them with all teh holes in them. We print the boards and then do a finish milling all holes and cut outs that go through the boards. This way we dont have to use any tape.
but thank you for your info.

Moin moin to all.

Today we will make a lot of people happy.
First I want to say thank you to all that paid in full in December, awaiting their playfield before Christmas. Thank you for the trust you gave us and the possibility to make it right again.

We have had further back blows, using the wrong screen, the light blue screen and printed orange. We tried to fix it, but didn’t work out. Washed all of again and started all over with printing, at red
we noticed clouds in the inserts, rest of the white paint, we tried to clean the inserts but took over an hour per playfield and didn’t work out nicely, we decided to sand all off again.

On Tuesday we sanded them and started new primer. On Thursday we could start sanding them smooth. On Friday we took them to our house so we can start printing. We printed until late at night, also yesterday. Today we could print the last 3 colors.

We are so happy that we have finished the printing and that the colors work out well, good shades. We are just to exhausted from all, a stones falls from our hearts.

Tomorrow we will bring some packing material home from the new facility, don’t want to risk that the print gets damaged on transporting them. We will get them on the milling machine to clear all the (dimples) pilot holes from paint. Then we will clear coat them.

We are scheduling them to be finished and ready to ship by end of July. Knocking three times on wood.

We wish you all a nice Sunday evening

Hello to all

Here a small video of today’s action.
We are busy milling Bride of Pinbot playfields, They will be finished in a couple of days, then insert gluing.

We are busy looking through F-14, sanding them and getting them ready for clear coating.
If the coat works out well, we will be able to send them out in approx. 3 weeks due to curing time of the clear coat.

This week we will start to sand down the Terminator Playfields, hope we can save the primer work so that we can get them re-printed.
Cabinet decals are in work, will have them in stock by the time that the playfields are ready, actually sooner than that, in approx. 14 days.
It is not possible to send out the decals in the same box as the playfields.
If you need parts like Lane Guides, Star Post of the Bats, we have them on stock and can send them together with the decals.
Playfield Plastic Sets are on Stock.

We are busy doing the final checks on the artwork of Black Rose
and are getting the artwork fitted a bit better to the milling program, re-adjust some factory faults that don’t line up nicely,
It also means that the many layers must be re-adjusted. We don’t use a redraw program for that will just cause many artwork errors.
This and all the artwork is redrawn but hand, hour for hour, days for days.....

Please turn off your speakers or set them low, the video is quite noisy.

Hello to all.
Here a little update on the F-14, a short video. Put your sound off or lower, it’s quite noisy with the vents running.
The video is showing the F-14 Boards, they have the first clear coat and are curing. Next week we will sand them again and apply the finish clear coat. We gave them a long time to cure, the first layer is rock hard.

https://www.facebook.com/buthamburg.de/videos/1531450677389241

Also seen are the clear coated Queen Playfields, tomorrow the next load will fill the rest of the walls. Must still build some racks to stack them decently. The racks will store them similar as they are stored now.
In the drying shelves you can see the primered Alien Playfields.
They will be printed next week.
Hope you enjoy.
Have a nice evening

Quoted from mtooner1:

Is it still too late to get a f14 play field ??

Im not sure yet. We are first serving all the pre-orders that paid in full in December last year.

After all pre paid Playfields we will give a call email to all on the pre-order list, will serve from top to bottom.
There are a lot. But time has shown that many dont answer or jump off.

Please send me your postal address and tel. no. to peter (et) buthamburg.de I will enter you into the list.
We will rerun them again shortly for the demand has always been high on F-14.

Hello to all.
First of all, the F-14 Playfields have the finish clear coat on them, on Monday we will be looking over them and will start sending out. We will first send out to all that have paid up and patiently waited for us to get the re-run finished. On the second batch, which is still curing, we will start to work down our pre-order list.

A small insight of our delaily work.
Terminator 2 Playfields. We tried to save them, but it is just much too much work. We have decided to sand them down and start to print them again. In the printing procedure, we didn’t notice that some color did not print out well. It seems that it was too cold at the time we started printing in March. We tries to just get the work done as fast as possible, stated to rush the work for we didn’t have enough time
due to building up the new facility and keeping the production on Alien and Queen playfields up.
We started to mask the colors that were not printed out well and re spray them with airbrush, very time consuming. If doing 1 or 2 playfields, it would be a problem, but doing a hole batch turns out to be a major time problem. So we now decided to just sand them down and reprint them, time wise the best solution.

Just shows again that this kind of work cannot be rushed, and trying to force the end of the production just turns out in a disaster.
Screens will be back at the screen maker next week, boards are being primered again, for safety.

Terminator Cabinet decals are order and should be received soon.
We let the printing company print them, they have the printing roads for that production and we would have the time to get them done shortly.

So the Playfields, Plastics and Cabinet decals will be on stock again.

Bride of Pinbot Playfields are in production, color matching the original and our playfields, we will be offering the plastic sets.
The artwork on the plastic sets is not done with a re-draw program,
we sit for many hours, days, weeks... to re-draw star for star and dot for dot to keep the original character of the design.

Wish you all a nice weekend.
As always, turn your sound low, the video is quite noisy.
