Are you ready to SQUEEEEAAAAL for some pinball?? Well why don't WEEEEE retheme a WH2O into Deliverance!

Based on the groundbreaking and disturbing-as-hell film of 1972, a pin would be awesome....or awful, depending on how you view it. Instead of rafting on a fun family vacation, you ride your canoe along the Cahulawassee River to escape Hillbilly Hell. I just caught this on cable last night and my imagination ran wild.

So here we go:

-The boulder designs can remain unchanged, or customized to appear more like the rapids in the film.

-Bigfoot will instead be one of the two mountain men (detachable "toothless" or "dirty" teeth prosthetics can be applied). You can place different hats and shirts to match the attire worn in the film!

-Bigfoot's cave would be the spot in the woods where the "rendezvous" takes place.

-Insanity Falls will represent the tall cliff Jon Voight had to climb with his bow and arrow. Jackpot shot shows animation of Voight shooting his arrow and a quick cut to the dead hunter falling over with an arrow in his chest and firing off his last round.

-Whirlpool remains the same, representing the wild rapids, and shows DMD animation of all four guys hurrying to escape after burying the first mountain man.

-Raft inserts would be canoes instead.

-I'd like to add a T2-esque cannon resembling a bow and arrow. You aim to shoot fish...or a hillbilly having unpleasant rendezvous with your friend Bobby.

Quotes:
-Press start during insert coin: Lewis: "Fifty, my ass!"
-Insert 1st coin: Griner: "Da hell you wanna f--- wit dat river for?"
-insert 2nd coin: Lewis: "Because it's there!"
-Push start button variables:
Ed: "Come on Lewis, let's go back home and play golf."
Lewis: "The ability to survive. That's the game."

TILT WARNING: (take your pick)
-Ed: "Come on Lewis, don't play games with these people!"
-Mountain man: "If this one moves, shoot that one right there!"
-Toothless man: "I'll blow his goddamn balls off"

TILT:
-Raucous Hillbilly laughter
-Lewis: "The LAW?!? Where's the law!!"
-Sheriff: "Don't try nothin' like this again."
-Bobby: "I don't want this gettin' around."
-Hillbilly: "You ever had your balls cut off, you fucking ape!"

LOCK BALL: (Spoken by mountain men, in order of lock)
-"It looks like you're lost"
-"You better get up in them woods over there."
-"Drop yer pants!" (Animation of poor Bobby being chased around woods until BACKWOODS MULTIBALL appears on display.

-Side drain: "Squeal like a pig! Come on, weeeeeeee!!"
-Jackpot:
"You got him, Ed!"
"We made it!"

MUSIC:
Banjoes, what else! I'm sure custom bluegrass tracks could also be made for different modes.
-Pre-launch: Dueling Banjoes startup version
-Main Play: Sped-up version (Gradually speeds up further as score increases). Ends on cue when ball drains.
-Hurry Up: the super fast banjoes (heard when Ed falls off the cliff with the tied up corpse, before plunging into the water.)
-Bonus count: (the synthesized one-note drone heard when Ed falls into the water off the cliff, wrestling with dead body.)
-Game over: Slow, sad version of Dueling Banjos, (heard when Ed and Bobby are slowly paddling over still waters, with injured Lewis in their canoe, back into town after their horrible ordeal.

ART:
Cabinet: Pic of Lewis aiming his bow and arrow, or other striking, dark imagery from the film.
Head: Pic of hand emerging from the water, or poster pic of shotgun held above water, aimed at canoe.
Backglass: poster pic of four men carrying corpse of Mountain man, with scared expressions on their faces.
(I'll post pics in the next threads)

So what do you think? Cool, or totally sucky? I'm expecting many different opinions, and a crapload of flaming. But us pinheads are weird in our own unique ways, right?

Quoted from Hawk007:

Better to make a game from scratch using p-roc or something..w-waters are getting precious and we need to keep the W/B games alive and going..seems we lose more everyday with disasters happening everywhere.

I just thought of WW because it shares the rapids motif. I'd love to see if maybe Dutch Pinball can "Deliver" something to us the way they are with Lebowski. I'm sure we'd Squeal with delight

More quotes:

PRESS START:
First Griner: Where you goin' city boy?
Second Griner: It ain't nothin' but the biggest fuckin' river in the state.

LAST BALL DRAIN:
Ed: Night has fallen. And there's nothin' we can do about it.
Lewis: Well, we fucked up.

TILT:
Doctor: Explain this to me again. I didn't know somebody could shoot themself with their own arrow.

MULTIPLE JACKPOTS:
Bobby: There's no end to it.

SUPER JACKPOT:
Mountain Man: Looks like we got us a sow here instead of a boar.

BALL SEARCH:
Bobby: Which way we goin', this way or that way?
Lewis: I think downstream would be a good idea.

GAME OVER:
Bobby: We beat it, didn't we? Didn't we beat that?
Lewis: You don't beat it. You don't beat this river...

MODE START:
Sherrif Bullard: Let's just wait and see what comes out of the river.
1) Ed: Look, what is it that you require of us? 2) Mountain Man: What we, uh, "re-quire" is that you get your god-damn asses up in them woods.

Bump.

It doesn't even have to be a re-themed White Water. Just make it an original design. Dutch Pinball, get to work!

Quoted from Aeolus7:

I'm enjoying the enthusiasm! Just curious if you are trying to bait us here... Re-theming a WH2O sounds completely sacrilegious. How about a re-theming a dud that's not on wishlists of countless pinsiders? I'm not a re-theming expert, but it seems like the goal is to do so based on the layout of the games in question rather than the fact that they are both water themes. Could be wrong.

No baiting intended. If you look three responses ago, I said it could be another design, not WW. I originally chose WW because, yes, it's a water rapids theme like Deliverance. I recognize the error of my ways by suggesting a WW be rethemed. Mea culpa! When I started this thread, I had just seen the film again and had a sudden crazy idea. I just went with it.

I think you, me and a few others are the 5% who are enthusiastic. The remaining 95% don't seem to give a squeal whatsoever, haha.
