    Fantastic Steve!

On a side note, my girlfriend woke up this morning in a baking mood and is now making several batches of homemade cookies.

    #152 6 years ago

It's almost go time! My wonderful girlfriend gets home from work tonight and what does she do? Back to baking! She is making more cookies and brownies too!!! Hope everyone enjoys the refreshments!!

    #153 6 years ago

Looking forward to a fun time of pinball, pinball, and more pinball. And the casino of course, gotta win that money.

Hoping traffic isn't too bad, got a good 3 hour drive to get there but it'll be well worth it.

In less than 12 hours we will be flipping! Here is my current situation while I'm DJ'ing at The Starboard!

Stay out really late so we can even out the playing field tomorrow! All joking aside, thank you and your team for all your hard work in putting this together. I am really excited to meet everyone and I know it will be an awesome time. Plus homemade cookies and brownies?! It's like we already won.

You sir should be in bed! Unfortunately I'm DJing until 130am, then an hour ride home. 7am is going to come quick! Thankfully all of the pre-planning this week should pay off tomorrow. I already know I'm going to have problems sleeping because of the anticipation. I'm stoked!

It really was a great time! Ran very smoothly, everybody was chill... and that fried chicken?! So glad we don't have Royal Farms around here, I'd be working on a chicken roll to go under my beer belly.

Heard Koi hit a dollar slot at the casino for fifteen hundo on the way home too.

    #164 6 years ago

Great time. Thx Chad and Mike.

This was (to me) a VERY successful tourney event! I came up from bmore to support DE pinball since that's where I grew up and I was not disappointed. Chad ran the whole event bringing his DJ skills on the mic and did his thing...you always need a guy like him taking the reigns. He has a passion for the silver ball...that's noticeable first hand. His GF made a delightful spread of mini cup cakes, bite sized brownies, cookies, chips, dips, etc that kept our hunger pains at bay until it was break/food time.....her also being a pinball aficionado was def welcomed in a sea of cool pinball peeps. Mike...the young fellow hosting the event......was extremely friendly with welcoming arms into his sweet man cave full of pinball power and an unlimited supply of fresh buttery popcorn. Mike has a solid/fun collection of pins ranging from Stars to MET which makes playing in the tourney refreshing as I enjoy the machine diversity. Not everybody can/would open up there home like that...and that you have to respect. People were friendly and nice....treating the machines like the way they were meant to be played but never over doing it when the machines made them there bitch.

The whole group helping out were great throughout the day dealing with stuck balls, minute machine issues, and all the questions us players had with rules and regulations to keep the tournament moving at a brisk pace.

At the end of the day.....it was fun. To be honest I'm not huge into competitive pinball (I have my sports leagues for that) as pinball has always been an enjoyable hobby and I never want that to become more than that. But it's great to support the hobby for even something as small as this in this expanding love of everything we all here enjoy on pinside!!

Thanks to all for a fun day.....I hope it's grows in DE from here

ROFO Fried chicken is indeed the best. Better than Popeyes, KFC, you name it! Thanks for the feedback and thanks for coming down! See you at York!

Had a blast. tournament ran smooth and games played great.
Thanks to Chad and Mike for all your efforts!

Got to meet some very nice new people and saw some old friends.

Also got to see Steve Bowden pull off one of the craziest saves I have seen. He did this backhanded chop/ slap on the glass to make a outlane save on comet, was so cool. Good times.

Thanks Joe! Your son made one hell of a run against a pretty stacked field of players. It's great to see kids enjoying pinball as much as we do.

    Sean,

Thanks for the kind words! I really appreciate your feedback as I put a lot of time and effort into pre-planning to try and make sure my first tournament as a director and the first ever tournament in the state of Delaware was a huge success. From all the feedback so far it seems like everything paid off and I'm thankful for that. I really wanted to make sure everyone who came had an outstanding experience and ultimately leave knowing that we are just as serious about pinball in Delaware as other cities/regions, just that we lack locations to play at. I will be working on dates for 2 more tournaments by the end of the year so we can qualify Delaware for the IFPA State playoffs. Thanks again for making the trip and congratulations on your finish!

    Insane,

Thank you for making the trip and supporting the tournament. I hope you come back in the future when we announce other tournaments. On a side note, I didn't get a chance to put a name to the Pinside username.

Just wanted to thank everyone that attended for makng the trek to southern Delaware. Big shout outs to Chad for putting this together!!! He put alot of time and effort into making everyting run the way it did. I was a little worried that we wouldn't have enough space for everybody, but everything worked out and nobody ended up in the pool!!!! If any of you make it back to the area, there is an open invite to come play some silverball.

    Thanks Again Everyone,

    Mike V.

    Mike,

You are the unsung hero. Without you opening up your house and your machines we couldn't have pulled this off. Thanks again for being so generous!

Just wanted to congratulate djreddog and WMSpin on an amazing tournament. All the pre-planning must have paid off because it really felt like a tournament that had been running for years, rather than the first time ever. The collection of games was fantastic, and included some fun selections that you do not see in tournaments very often. The prizes and trophies were also great. So much hard work went into obtaining great door prizes, that everyone who stayed the entire night walked home with something. Thank you to everyone who helped put it together, and I look forward to more DE pinball in the future!

    #180 6 years ago

I just wanted to let everyone who participated in the tournament know that all scores have been submitted to IFPA. We are now waiting on the Sharpe bros to do their work!

    Harry,

Thanks for making the trip across the Atlantic, you had quite the view and the weather was fantastic for a ferry ride that day! It seems like all the pregame work paid off and I'm thankful for that. I didn't want anyone driving all the way down to be disappointed in the tournament. Stay tuned, we should have some announcements in the coming weeks for the last 2 events of 2017 to qualify Delaware for the IFPA State championships.

Probably won't be a popular choice since its all EMs but Red Lion Inn has maybe 12 machines and plenty of space. They are all in great shape and it's obvious based on their quality the owner was selective when acquiring them.

    Rich,

I would love to host one there, all EM's or not. I'm going to actually consider this and will try and reach out to the owner to see if we can work something out.

Maybe some us can bring a machine to add to the EMs and mix it up a bit there? Just an idea but could work if all parties were cool with it.

    Sean,

It's funny you mention bringing a machine. Me and Mike discussed this yesterday. I have close ties to a lot of restaurants due to my line of work and WMSpin suggested getting a banquet area reserved at a restaurant near Newark and we would just need machines brought to the location. I could bring 2 and so could @wmspin, just need a few more and we would be set. Stay tuned!

That's a little more than an hour's drive from me, which is what I did tonight for Allentown. I think it's a no brainer, you'll get a shitload of Philly players and f'em if they can't handle EMs. I'll clean up.

    #187 6 years ago

I live in Newark and currently have 4 machines, but street fighter is having ramp issues and comet is getting fixed up. T2 and LW3 are pretty much GTG though.

    #188 6 years ago

For all those interested, the scores are now up on IFPA.

I really wish I could have attended this tournament. It just didn't fit the timeline. That being said, what is the outlook for you hosting another one based on what certain high end people said about this, it was a great selection!!!! Please keep us informed if you plan for more

    Squeeks,

The tournament held on 9/23 will become an annual event. I hope to make it one that is more prestigious, with a higher entry fee, and all entries paid in advance (sorta like the prestigious Pinsanity tournament over in NJ).

As for other events in Delaware, that is going to happen as well. I'm working out the details now for the next one and hope to have it finalized by the end of the week. Stay tuned!
