Dear timarnold
Please, please, please allow someone to come by and upload the rom from The Pinball Circus. If the ROM was public, people could:
1. Analyze it. People think it's a simple game, and it is, but from what I've seen it seems like analysis of the ROM would turn up some interesting details.
2. Make a vpx table. (theoretically)
3. Preserve it from being lost.
I am very interested in this ROM, and I don't want it to get lost forever like other digital media has been.

If you want money, I think a lot of people would be willing to pay you. Myself included.

Circus Maximus, if you have a copy of the ROM, then I would be similarly grateful to you. Whether or not you are willing to dump it, it would be good to know that you have it. If you also have the ROM, it would make it less likely to be lost forever.
Thank you for your consideration, and thank you for the great business you run

(For those who don't know, uploading a ROM is called "dumping" it)

Quoted from noitbe1:

You may ask Circus Maximus team. They have built a prototype with a working ROM.

Oh. I figured they probably had a copy of the ROM, but it's good to know for sure. Thank you for the information. I didn't know they built a prototype, that's my ignorance showing. I'll reach out to Circus Maximus.

Even if the ROM doesn't get released for 20 years, the important thing is that it doesn't get lost. So it's good news that a lot of people have the ROM.

I'd also love to get the ROMs for the SS Sega of Japan games that still exist in Japanese collections.

Unfortunately the Sega of Japan games that Bruce Tsuji-sama ( onemoretime ) has in his pinside account seem to all be EMs.

Here's the response I got from Circus Maximus, (along with my original email)

"Thanks for contacting us.

I'll have to go back and look and see if we have the original ROM. I'm
sure we can get it as we have an agreement with Planetary Pinball, so we
have access to anything they have access to regarding Pinball Circus,
but we didn't use it for the prototype we built.

I'm not entirely sure if they'd allow us to upload the ROM though, but
I'll check.

We have the original sound recordings and music recordings for the game,
along with several of the DMD animations, which is what we used to run
our prototype we built using the PinHeck board that runs the first few
Spooky games. Ultimately it will run on a PROC system like the newer
Spooky games, American Pinball games, and Multimorphic games though.

Our main goal with Pinball Circus is to fulfill our promise to Python to
get at least 13 of them built, and put it into production if there is
enough interest. It's to honor his legacy.

Check back with me in a few months as right now we are fairly focused on
finishing up Kingpin and getting it into production, but I'll see what I
can do with the ROMs.
