Quoted from Slade:Most young gamers dislike the simple rules because they are used to video games
I think modern gamers like deeper rules thinking it makes the game better. To me, it makes it boring as the playfield is virtually the same dimensions as an EM, only now, I have to navigate through it for 20+ minutes to accomplish the objective. The saving grace is the sound and light show, but that isn't what pinball is all about.
I'm like Slade, gimme 10 minutes, (3-4 games), of a simple mindless ruleset and a beer or 2 as I wait for my dinner after a grind at the office. For today's games, I have to be in a totally different mood to appreciate, and that isn't often.
Great post!
