I recently picked up this Taxi from a friend of a co-worker. I was told it would boot up if the battery holder was replaced and batteries installed. So I checked the boards out and found no acid damage on the pcb but the holder was bad. Gave him $700 and brought it home. So I pulled the battery holder and installed a NVram and sure enough it came to life. Everything worked except the GI which was just a bad connector.
The machine was horribly dirty when I got it. It played but damn it was slow. I ended up pulling down the entire playfield and gave it a complete cleaning. The playfield does not have too bad of wear but it is really discolored. I tried everything I can think of to clean it but its still dark. (note the clean spot where there is mylar on the left sling). Here is what was done to the game.
-new ramps
-new rubber
-LED, entire machine
-rebuilt flippers
-rebuilt pop bumpers
-rebuilt drop targets
-installed NV Ram
-new topper
-new flipper switches
-new glass
-new balls

I m guessing I have somewhere around $1100 into it. Judging by these pics, do you think I did ok?

I tried a product that is really similar to bleach white. It cleaned up good but not completely. Believe me, this thing was nasty dirty before.
Its strange, I seem to come across games when I am not looking for them. Now if I could only stumble upon a BK2K for a decent price I will be happy.
