https://www.marvel.com/articles/gear/marvel-and-stern-pinball-announce-new-deadpool-pinball-machines

"That freedom gives fans an extra special bonus as all Premium models will include a custom “Deadpool’s Mix Tape” cassette featuring 11 original music tracks with sleeve art by Zombie Yeti. And the Limited Edition, limited to 500 units globally, includes a 12” Vinyl LP featuring 11 original music tracks with cover art by Zombie Yeti."

Pretty awesome idea. Way cooler than some chintzy cassette tape. The LP could actually turn out to be a collectable.

This is my first time to see the playfield and artwork. Looks pretty good from what I can see!

This is the correct way to announce a game. Im not a Deadpool fan but this announcement makes me want to buy one.

Quick observations:

Game = Very Red, Flippers = Very Yellow
Also "BAM", not just BOOM
Holy crap, they were allowed to spell out "dead" on one side and "pool" on the other. Ironman weeps alone.
7 mod makers have already started threads about shuriken pop caps.
Sword should have been chromed or something
Please tell me there is a multiball where the game goes dark, a barry white style song plays, and there are spots on that disco ball.

You think they will produce an LP and only make 500 of them? Seems likely it will be released elsewhere and copies included with the LE tables.

I'd hope so. Would be a big selling point for the LE.

It's not like that would be difficult or prohibitively expensive to make a limited run of 500 LPs. Bands with no money and members who borrow their girlfriends' car to get to gigs have been doing it for decades.

Any interesting mechs, unusual design choices on the playfield? I can't tell much from the pics.

LOL @ that writing over the right flipper. Most meta thing ever on a pinball game?

#10 5 years ago

A pro with Spinners!!!!! A+, Deadpool drop target mech looks cool. So far just looking at the video A+ on art.

#11 5 years ago

It looks and sounds like Marvel gave Stern's design team open license to go nuts and have fun. SO glad this is not based on the movies now. Wonder if Tommy Soxton had some pull to include all the "BOOM's" as a nod to the NYC players. Haha.

#12 5 years ago

Man, that thing is busy. And the Pro translite is superior to the Prem/LE

#13 5 years ago

This is the bit that intrigues me the most.....

Sure is colorful - could be a sleeper hit.

Every property brings different challenges. Deadpool has been great because it's given us a lot of running room in terms of what we can do. We've taken the approach that we're going to make all these screen graphics look like the 80s or 90s video game graphics, purposefully very pixelated,” explains George Gomez, Stern Pinball Chief Creative Officer and Lead Designer of the Deadpool machine. “The other cool thing is when he breaks the fourth wall to talk to the player, to taunt and insult them, it's going to be a high-res Deadpool. Imagine that the action on screen, If he's in a horrendous fight against a bunch of ninjas, everything will freeze frame. Deadpool will come out on screen and say something to the player, in Deadpool fashion.”

Well played Stern, well played...

Gosh looks ok..

Can somebody say what the play field layout is like? LotR, TF, Avengers (etc?).

Sorry it’s not Lyman (says everyone about every Stern pin).

From what I can tell. This is a unique layout.

Some quick grabs from my phone. Not the best but it's something. Pretty game IMO. I love that there's a Berzerk, Frenzy and Seawitch in his basement.

Rollergames.

Same layout as rollergames!

Except those cheap bastards at Stern found a way to get rid of the 3rd flipper! Evil Geniuses.

#22 5 years ago

I love the sword lock and sword ramp. I know its similar to LOTR but fits in really well.

Looks cool no doubt but I'm not dropping $6k-$9k on a game where the main toy is a damn bobble head, ridiculous.

Gomez said the tracks will be available to download. C2C Pinball #245 interview, about the 13:30 mark. So likely the vinyl will be only 500.

We know you’re not. Shouldn’t you be waiting in JJP pirates production tread for something to happen?

Great Voice actor for Deadpool, he was used in the Video game. Actually in many games, most famously Nathan Drake in all the Uncharted games!

#31 5 years ago

I'm initially in love. I can't freaking wait to play this game.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Zombie Yeti killed the art on this. I'm so happy they went comic book art. We wouldn't have gotten wolverine if they went the movie route, and I can't wait for the Wolverine jokes.

Having Nolan do the voices is top notch too. Very excited.

#33 5 years ago

I thought I'd see this and automatically give it a pass, but no.... it actually looks cool and fun. I like the unique layout and shot path to the upper ramp. I'm looking forward to seeing this play on Dead Flip and giving it some plays myself. Zombie Yeti's art package also looks great as always IMO.

We all know you aren't into games that are actually available for purchase within weeks of a reveal.

Pie in the sky vaporware is so much sexier!

I think this whole "main toy" fetish thing has to go. People sound like 8 year olds: "I WANT MY TOY!"

There are so many shitty games with a great toy.

Maiden - and TNA for that matter- proved that the "toys" people want are well designed games with good code and art that play well and are on the production line.

Other recent toy-filled reveals have shown the problems that building your entire game - and your entire business model - around "toys" can lead to.

I can't see anything but Avengers with that Black Widow ramp angle. Maybe it's wider and not so clunky, but I'm not so sure. Little bit of Iron Man with the DEAD and POOL targets on the side? It'll be a quick turnaround on that left ramp, back to the left flipper. The drop targets under the bobble are going to brick back at you fast on a hard shot. At least they are drops, though.

The one fear I have is clunk on that wrap around shot. If it is wide enough, and you can get enough speed to make that travel around the back smoothly and consistently, then it's all up to code as to how good this one will be.

Same. But I'm impressed all to hell. So far the comedy is spot on. Looks great.

Sure, spend your money on a girl with a wrench and a kiddy figure with lightning bolts then.

LE is on order.

You're acting like pros don't have spinners, which is why I'm shitting on your post.

No back to the important shit; anyone have a coil count on this?

Looks like the pro is missing powder coated habitrails, some toys, a physical ball lock? (right of sword) and a disco ball. If that disco ball gets hit with a light and spins around that's pretty rad. Feature matrix up yet?

#44 5 years ago

Heck I’m tempted to get an LE but won’t likely because I’d rather wait for proven gameplay and code.

I had bought STLE (good call) and XMLE (bad call).

Just too many choices now with TNA on order as well.

I saw thse prices listed ( Holy shit ! No fricking way Stern )

Pro Model: $US 5,999

Premium Model: $US 7,599

Limited Edition Model: $US 8,999

#48 5 years ago

I actually really like the look of the game, but the upgrades from the Pro to the Premium/LE sound kinda basic compared to other titles...

'The Premium and Limited Edition models feature an additional 8 drop targets, motorized disco ball with disco illumination effects, custom molded Wolverine and Dazzler action figures, and with a custom molded chimichanga truck time machine. In addition, these models include an actuated up/down ramp that feeds the right flipper from the left orbit, keeping the action continuous and fast. All Premium models will include a custom “Deadpool’s Mix Tape” cassette featuring 11 original music tracks with sleeve art by Zombie Yeti.'

Yup. Toys can be added after the fact. Pro looks to be a very safe bet. You know the modders will make a Disco Ball, so the real difference is the up/down ramp in the shooter lane that looks like you can orbit down it and up into the sword.
