Just set up a new Deadpool pro, April 22 build date. Can’t seem to figure this one out, any help appreciated. Launched first ball and play was normal. Ball save lit, lost my ball and game the ejected new ball as it should. Problem was then noticed while in first ‘battle mode’ and lost the ball. Ball loss was not detected and the game started ball search. Once battle timed out by being defeated the ball searches ended and game sent ball 2 on the plunger. Game played normally and registered ball losses as long as ball was not lost during and active ‘battle’.

Spent an hour with the glass off and testing different scenarios. 100% of the time a drain will act normally, except when a battle is running. When it’s running it will never end the ball on a drain. You just sit there until Deadpool gets defeated running countless ball searches or until you power off.

After some investigation here is my findings; trough sees all 6 balls as indicated by leds on the trough opto card, launching a ball will extinguishes ball 6 led as it should. When the ball returns to trough the opto sees ball 6 again and lights the corresponding led(even in ‘battle mode’). I wanted to see if trough opto sees the ball loss during the battle mode and Yes it does. The whole time it is doing ball searches the trough has all 6 ball leds lit? It knows there are 6 balls in trough but continues to do balls searches anyway. Went into diagnostics and performed test on through and all seems well.

Running code 1.08 with all settings on factory.

Seems like a code thing since it only happens during battle mode but since this code has been out for 3 months I am sure that the code is not the problem.

Any ideas?

Maybe try reflashing the SD Card?

Contact Stern.

You may have bad connections to the trough optos.

Go into test, ball clear, and wiggle connections, shake the machine, etc. See if anything weird is happening.

But it could easily be a failing node-8 board. It could be bad software, bad flash card, etc.

Stern will need to guide you through the troubleshooting that you need to do in order to get the replacement parts you'll need.

A lot of people think that buying 'new in the box' is a good idea. In my experience most machines have some problem when removed from the box. A significant amount of machines have problems like this, where it's going to be quite difficult for a home owner to troubleshoot the problem effectively, and it's likely to require parts to fix. You sound like a pretty good technical person, so you are in a better position than a lot of people!

Whoever you bought this machine from will likely need to submit a warranty claim.

Thanks for the ideas.

I did flash the SD card again and that didn’t work unfortunately. Contacted my distributor and troubleshot over the phone for some time. Swapped out both playfields node boards and the trough opto boards, no luck either. Went into test and went through many diagnostics tests but it passes everything we tried. They want the machine back so I will be making a road trip tomorrow.

I have set up about a dozen new machines over the years and there is always some tweaking or something needed, just never had one I could not figure out. So weird that it only doesn’t detect drains during one mode of game play.

Thanks
