Quoted from PinMonk:Stern has had a problem like this at least since Iron Maiden. It's why they do the "maintenance reboot" once every 24 hours so they can clear memory and prevent the memory leak (I believe they have) from taking down the machine. It's the Microsoft way to solve problems. Just reboot so the problem doesn't happen. They did it on Ford Focus cars (yeah, not smart - it's why Ford dumped them). I thought Stern fixed the core issue, but I caught a middle of the day reboot earlier this year, so maybe it's still a thing.
All of that said, the maintenance reboots should be preventing lockups of the kind your describing, so you may have a bad CPU board OR bad SD card. I'd try making a whole new SD card first and see if that takes care of it.
It definitely wasn't on 24 hours. Probably just a couple of hours. The screen just freezes and you can't do anything on the machine. They reboot solves the problem. Maybe it's just happening early on my machine. I'll try the SD card, thanks.
Quoted from PinMonk:Honestly it sounds most like a crap SD card. Second choice would be a bad CPU or CPU board. Definitely try building a new quality SD card and replacing that. There are instructions on how to do it on Stern's site. There are TONS of fake Sandisk out there, so do not buy the card off Ebay or Amazon. Try to get it at a local store.
Thanks, I'll replace the SD card.

I purchased a new SD card and created a brand new image from the Stern website. It's been about eight or nine days without the machine locking up. I'm not claiming victory but it's definitely a good sign. Thanks to everyone for their help!

This is interesting. I put in a new SD card and it worked perfect for over two weeks. Now it locks up again. If I turn it on the screen will eventually freeze and you have to restart the machine. Essentially, the entire machine freezes as the lights no longer blink on my etc.
Sometimess it occurs during game play. I have checked every connection 30 times. I'm going to call Stern and try to order a new CPU node. It's just very odd that it went so long without an issue and now it started again.
Does anyone know the reference number for the slingshot posts that holds the rubber? The top left post on the left slingshot cracked. It's still holding up but I would like to replace it. I looked at the manual three times and cannot find a reference number for that particular post.
Sorry, I meant the actual metal post that goes under the playfield and through this plastic. I wasn't clear in my description. But I need one of these as well so thank you! Looking around the site I see few posts listed. I might just buy a couple of each so I have parts. Thanks!
Does anyone know if the cables that go from The CPU node board to the node controller board in the cabinet are standard cat-5 cables? One of my needs replaced. I cannot find them in the manual.
Quoted from Soulstoner:I believe they are, yes. They are labeled as such on the cables themselves.
Thanks! I didn't see a label so maybe I have aftermarket cables on mine? I'll check again though. I appreciate the input.
Quoted from joelbob:I had an amazing opportunity to interview George Gomez and Tanio Klyce earlier this week. The goal was to break down how they designed Deadpool from start to finish. It was a fantastic conversation and George dropped some really big news at the end. Feel free to check it out!
