Shaker motor... worth the $ or no?
Also, the fake knocker sound Stern uses these days is horrid. Turned it off. If I want it back... will buy the kit.
Side note: I'm surprised at a lot of the reviews for Deadpool - including SDTM's review on Youtube. I agree that the layout is kind of clunky sometimes - not as smooth as my Demo Man, for instance.
But this is an extreme FUN pin to play. Total package is extremely well done. Music is the best I've ever heard on a Stern pin, bar none. Enjoyability on it A++++ as far as I'm concerned. And when I have friends over, everybody crowds around it and wants to play it. Theme is exceptionally well integrated. 16 bit fighting game style animation is perfect. And the shots, while sometimes clunky, are unique and very different from other pins. Yeah, it's not perfect (no pin ever is), but it's extremely good. Definitely my current favorite in my collection, and of all the pins I've played recently, only JJP's Pirates is better (and that costs a lot more).
Quoted from ATLpb:An incredibly strange comparison in my opinion.
And I still don’t understand why ppl call this clunky. Only the Colossus shot is clunky.
The Colossus shot is actually pretty smooth for me (except with the tiny nature of the loop, it stills gives a clunky sound even when hit). I hit that shot a LOT, it's perfectly dialed in on my machine. The katana shot is what gets a little clunky for me, though it's a little better since I micromanaged the levelers a bit more. Tough to really get that shot perfectly setup.
But otherwise, yes, it's a very strange comparison. I may be the only person on Earth who was cross-shopping those two pins. At least, that's what my local dealer said, anyway. And I'm probably going to buy Pirates as well, anyway, and sell my Avatar to make room for it. I liked both pins a lot, but for very different reasons. Deadpool is slapstick, fun, and just a blast to play. Pirates was long, deep, and very well made. Bought Deadpool first because Stern pros are still very reasonably priced, all things considered. And Deadpool pro is very fully featured for a pro. Stern sells you a lot of pin for that money.
Quoted from NeilMcRae:agree, I can't believe that people don't rate this over that turd Munsters. DP is sooooo much better than that game.
The music on Munsters was utterly annoying. Couldn't stand it. It's the 'get stuck in your head' kind of bad. Immediately struck Munsters off my list for that reason. Deadpool, OTOH, has an epic soundtrack with a lot of variety. Muuuuuuuuuch better.
Quoted from mbrave77:Anyone else suck at dazzle and mech suit multiball because they have s hard time seeing with the lighting effects during the mode? I just cant see the flippers well during the mode!
Dazzle, sometimes. Mech suit, no.
But hitting the boom button can be a risk for this reason. Not only do you take hand off flipper button, but there's a moment of flash where you can drain easily - especially in multiball.
Part of the challenge, I think. I don't mind.
Quoted from twenty84:I feel like with most games that come out there is some buzz phrase that becomes popular on pinside for those that don't like the game, but the meaning of that phrase often isn't well defined. For Star Wars it was "math chess." For DP the phrase seems to be "Gomez clunk". It seems not to be used to describe other Gomez games like MB or LOTR, and I must admit after owning this game since it came out I'm not even sure what it means.
Does it refer to "flow"? Both orbits and ramps return the ball safely (at least on the LE/prem). Center shot also returns the ball.
There are 11 drops, which is a lot for a modern game. Is this what is mean by clunk?
Do people feel the shots are too difficult? I don't feel this is the case at least on my game but I understand the right (back) ramp can be difficult on some machines if it isn't adjusted properly. The Skinkt shot is hard but it needs to be for the rules to make any sense.
The game has a fresh layout (e.g. not the classic fan seen on Met, GotG, Munsters, AFM, etc) which maybe people aren't used to or don't like for some reason?
Probably because people heard it in the SDTM review.
But in practical terms, the katana lock shot can be hit dead on and fail ~50% of the time. That is annoying and clunky. BUT the shot is so unique and different that I think the uniqueness makes up for the annoyance, and then some. The Colossus loop is so tight it is actually audibly clunky when you hit it. But that doesn't bother me as much as it bothers some. I like this pin. It's just fun, crazy, fast, and unique. You can nitpick things with it - you can with any pin - but the overall package is excellent and enjoyable, clunk or no clunk, IMHO.
Was playing yesterday and a random screw flew off from somewhere and appeared in the middle of the playfield. Got it out before it got lodged somewhere or caused any damage, but can't find out where the damn thing came from. Nothing appears to be missing a screw anywhere. Nothing loose on the playfield. Everything looks fine, except I have this random screw that appeared out of nowhere.
This happen to anyone else? Any place I might not be looking?
Quoted from Morhaus:Check back of Little Deadpool. Could be one of the two fell out.
Good idea, but I checked it just now and nope... all screws in Little Deadpool are there.
Now I'm just wondering if the factory dropped a screw somewhere and it just decided to pop out and scare the crap out of me. Lol.
Quoted from cpr9999:Lots of screws, picture or screw size needed to solve
Will take pic of screw this evening (sounds dirty - lol).
Quoted from BirdForce1:It's really not the wood. It's the clearcoat that gets dinged. But what he posted about the pinstadiums is definately true. Take away the shadows and give it even lighting, you really don't even see the dimples.
The dimples don't bother me. Same thing happened with my Avatar Pro back in the day. Eventually there were dimples all over, and the playfield just had a sort of light texture to it that didn't look bad. The dimples are only annoying when they are few, and stand out against non-dimpled/lightly-dimpled areas. It all evens out over time.
