Quoted from cpr9999:

Do you have pictures you can share of a Premium/LE version with your stars installed?

Test fit on an LE.
Thanks go Jim for helping out on this final tweak.
Our replacement plastic comes with a riveted metal bracket for attaching the figure to.
Those of you that have added the figure should order the LE/Prem kit here:

With the help of Rob and Kim from Lermods , we arrived at a different configuration of their disco ball mod on my Pro.

We rigged a spotlight to shine on the ball rather than relying on the led strip mounted under it. That's more like a real disco ball anyway! And actually, the little controller board could not drive all 3 (motor, led strip, and spotlight) so I removed the led strip from the circuit.

I might reposition the spotlight lower and/or farther from the ball, or try a different led, but you get the idea.

Without the benefit of the software in the higher models, I think it's the best we can do with an add-on -- and better than the stock disco ball mod IMO.

Props to Lermods for all their help and communication. Thanks!

I like it and think we will move to version 3.0 with this setup going forward. A bit more labor and parts but this is how stern does it in the premium and LE.

Scott, glad we could help you and thanks for your patience as we got this ironed out.

We will be updating our site and instructions. No change in price for now.

I applaud the attempt to get the spinner out to all games, as this is a super cool feature during Disco modes. However, your setup has very little in common with how Stern does it in the prem/LE. The light and geometry of light/ball are uber important if you want the dazzling light effect on your gameroom ceiling as well as the playfield. And of course the strobing/flashing effect is important as well, but I think this is a code thing where your hands are probably tied with respect to matching.

Hey all - I have acquired some 3.75" figures to mod out my DP.

I am new to the whole mode process - I know I don't want to connect the figures to the actual plastics, that much is obvious - so what advice can you all give me on how to do this?

Thanks in advance...

Cut a clear plastic to a shape that will mount in the area you want (i.e. there are screws nearby), drill holes to screw into the heels of the figures you want to mount then put a flat-top phillips through the plastic into the heel of the figure. Then flip it over and lower the two (or more) holes you made in the clear plastic mounting plate onto the posts of the playfield plastics and screw your new mount on TOP of the existing plastic piece using the existing nuts.

You're basically making "army men" clear bases for your figures, then drilling holes in the plastic base you made that line up with screw posts to mount them to existing plastics posts in the machine so it's totally reversible.

Cut a clear plastic to a shape

Probably a basic question, but do you just use standard plexiglass?

PETG is more forgiving. Plexi tends to crack. It doesn't have to be super-pretty, I usually just grab something out of the orphaned parts bin and make it work.

Reach out to Bryan_Kelly for the best mounting techniques for figures in your games. On second thought... maybe skip that idea and just follow the advice posted by Pin Monk. It'll turn out better and there won't be any name calling!!

I received my DP prem yesterday and it's playing great out of the box. One issue I have is the code updating. I downloaded the new code on a new USB and followed the directions to install i.e. turned unit off and put USB in etc... When I turn it back on, nothing happens. I'm new and obviously missing something. Any tips on how to install the code?

Make sure you take both files out of the folder and load them directly on the usb drive. For whatever reason, it will not recognize them if you simply drop the folder on to the usb drive. If that doesn’t work, make sure the usb drive if formatted correctly. Most are already.

#2312 5 years ago

And the USB cannot have anything else on it except for the contents of that zip file.

#2313 5 years ago

I was just going to say, in my experience it can. I had a few movies on there and my DP read it’s own files fine!

Quoted from BelleHall:

This is not true. It may cause complications if there are other issues, but I always use a USB that has other stuff on it - just not older versions of the same code.

Did you unzip the files? You can't put the zip you download on the USB without unzipping the file. For deadpool, it will make a folder with two files in it when it unzips. DO NOT COPY THE FOLDER IT MAKES. Drag both of the files IN the folder to the root of the USB drive.

Secondly, if you DID unzip, did you use the windows unzipper? If so, that may be your problem. Try winzip instead. The windows unzipper has caused problems with update files before.

Lastly, try a different brand USB, formatted Fat-32. Stern machines can be picky about what brands/sizes they like.

Boom! Now if I could only find a DP to buy...

As these updates continue to make Deadpool a much more attractive game to buy, and given the relatively weak initial sales due to crap software, it will be a hard row to hoe these days. Once word gets around how great the machine has become, I can see Stern doing a re-run, even if it's limited.

#2322 5 years ago

Woohoo!!! Love they put in MB's for beating main characters and then again for the secondary ones. Adds much needed layers, for staying power at home. The Megakrak is pretty baddass to lol

Don’t get me wrong, they’re easy to find and I have one in the works. But CA TAX law is preventing me from buying from the usual top distributors that have plenty readibly available. $7300 is already a lot of money for a non-LE pin, now tack on $500-700 more to that?

Oh, I was talking about the HUO camp - getting one less expensively from a home install. The tax thing is going to be painful for a while until we all have adjusted to the newly enforced pain.

#2325 5 years ago

I love that we can save settings and high scores now. The new attract mode videos are well done, and a nice touch. I noticed some new graphics and other cool touches, too. I can't wait to meet Megakrakolodonus Rex.

I just played a test game after setting Disco Multiball to "Dark" and was very happy.

Looking forward to digging in a bit more after work.

#2327 5 years ago

YAHHS!!

Almost need a flow chart now

#2328 5 years ago

Well NOW it makes sense as to why they were collecting the DNA! Megakrakolodonus Rex!

#2329 5 years ago

Aaaaaand I want this game even more now...

#2330 5 years ago

Wait. What did I miss? You can save settings and scores when/before you update code?

Edit: Oh wait I see now. This new version ADDS the ability to do so. Cool.

I just updated to v 1.0, and my GC score seen below is gone. As well as settings of course.

This is so great. I just picked up a DP Pro and set it up at my house yesterday. Wake up this morning and see new update! Can't wait to get home and do my first code update!

That's a huge update. They're also calling it 1.0, might be the last "big one".

#2340 5 years ago

this machine is great !!!!
I think he will be at home for a long time !!!
my configuration is all in maximum difficulty !!!!

#2341 5 years ago

Noticed since the update to 1.0, I now get the extra ball award at 30 collected weapons instead of previous 75..
Anyone else seeing this ? I reported as a possible bug to stern..

What’s it supposed to do? Typically EBs auto adjust. So if it starts at 30 and you’re getting it every game, the number will automatically increase. Check the settings to see what default is.

Well in a previous release, they had adjusted default be 75 (from 30). Even though the previous notes say it was supposed to auto-adjust from 75, I never saw it change from 75.. In any case I'll walk through settings later..

Just updated the code on DP I have on route. Had a slight heart attack when after I updated it wouldn't boot. Just sat there with red LEDs on the CPU in the backbox but nothing after that. Had to reinstall the USB drive and reinstall using the verify process. Luckily it booted up fine after that. Whew!

That was really cool of Stern. I wanted to buy the soundtrack from them when I first bought the game, but they wouldn't sell it to me. So I extracted it from the firmware. Sorrynotsorry.

It's a great soundtrack. I don't even like country music, and I think "Eatin' Chimichangas" is badass.

Tanio Klyce did, so far, an extremely neat job on Deadpool, he can be proud !

I think one feature is missing on version 1.00.0, it's the achivements based high scores, for example :

NINJA CHAMPION
WEAPON CHAMPION
CHIMICHANGA CHAMPION
LIL DEADPOOL CHAMPION
DISCO CHAMPION
MECHSUIT MB CHAMPION
KATARAMA TIME CHAMPION
SABERTOOTH CHAMPION
JUGGERNAUT CHAMPION
MYSTIQUE CHAMPION
SAURON CHAMPION
T-REX CHAMPION
MEGALODON CHAMPION
MR SINISTER CHAMPION
BONUS CHAMPION

There could be others...some could have crazier names...Tanio has certainly think of that.
