Just took my 13yr old daughter and 15yr old son to see this... we all hated it. Too forced. Not developed very deep. And vile to just be vile. The nudity was there just because. If I want porn, I watch porn. If I want a Marvel flick I want a Marvel flick... not this crap.

To each their own... and I know we're in the minority.

You have obviously never picked up an issue of Deadpool... lol

It's like saying you took the kids to go see Fritz The Cat because, hey! it's animated cats and you really liked all the Garfield shows up until now.

Yeah, that. You're apparently not familiar with what Deadpool is.

My soon to be 15 year old won the argument. He's going tomorrow.

Definitely in the minority.

We loved it. Even my wife who normally isn't an action movie lover really liked it a lot.

They nailed it as far as what I wanted Deadpool to be like in live action. A lot of the movie was spent on his origin story, because they had to undo the fuckery that was Wolverine: Origins.

It had really good comic relief, the 4th wall was broken appropriately, and they did a great job poking fun at the past decade or two of superhero movies, including this one.

Quoted from Nokoro:

My wife and I both agree it's fine for a 15 year old. There's a decent amount of nudity, but honestly it goes by so fast in the context of the scenes you don't focus on it for long. There's a lot more blood than nudity. Some pretty awesome headshots. Lots of cussing, but in our house it wouldn't really be anything my kids haven't heard come out of my mouth.

I havent seen Deadpool yet, but wondered how it would tie in with the Wolverine movie..

Quoted from SealClubber:

So you haven't seen it yet you don't think the R was necessary? That is like rating a pin you haven't played. My Brother didn't like it so I gave it a 1.
Now, whether or not you let your kids see R rated movies or not is up to you. But it does totally fit in definition of R.

What I mean is I've seen some PG-13 movies that are shocking or scary or raunchy funny and I've seen some pretty tame R-rated movies. So I could see a PG-13 Deadpool still working but after I've seen the movie I'll be able to tell if it was necessary. There might be some great jokes that just wouldn't work without the R. I'm not saying I'm for or against it though. I actually love the fact that Fox is doing something that Disney/Marvel would never do.

On the subject of kids watching it, I would probably be hesitant to watch it in the theater with kids. Especially if I was seeing it for the first time as well. I remember seeing R movies with sex scenes and violence when I was younger but they wasn't very many and when the sex scenes started, Dad told us to close our eyes. I realize that doesn't do a lot but it does help to teach kids that some things should remain unseen until they are older. I didn't watch many R rated movies till I was old enough to drive.

So I'm not gonna get much time to focus on Morena's assets? Maybe I should just wait for the DVD?

Just go see the movie, you won't be disappointed. It's his *new* origin story, but they give some nods to the Wolverine movie. No spoilers though. Go see it.

#61 8 years ago

What was screwy with the Wolverine Origins movie? He was a SF dude with the swords then. I took the mutant with the laser eyes and sealed mouth as a clone of him, not actually him. If it was actually supposed to be him, well then, that was stupid.

#62 8 years ago

I just hope that they build it with "maximum effort"

#63 8 years ago

Totally worth it and there are some pins in the movie during the bar scenes. Stay after the credits for a surprise.

#64 8 years ago

I went to a movie the other night and there was a deadpool preview before my movie. I could hardly stand the preview with it's over-the-top swearing and violence. I'll openly admit that I'm not familiar with the character/comic and apparently it's dead on but I found the preview offensive so I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like the movie.

I guess I'm getting prudish in my old age but it seemed like the preview was designed to be as offensive as possible, which I didn't like.

#65 8 years ago

I'm not one for these "They should make a pin based on X theme" threads, but this one doesn't seem far off. Great potential, great opening night so far, the second movie is already greenlit, certainly possible!

Took my 12 year old son and didn't see any problem.
Then again I'm from europe and we're not so prudish here
We both loved it.
The movie is light and entertaining, perfect for an evening at the movies.

#68 8 years ago

I wonder if my XMLE Magneto will sell for $5200 now. It is only HUO :/ strange market.

#69 8 years ago

Let's talk about the pins or the movie, not whether or not it's suitable.

Deadpool is definitely on that end of the Marvel spectrum.

A nickname for him has been "Merc with a mouth".

It was no clone, they really tried to pass that disaster off as Deadpool.

The most exciting thing for me personally about this movie being a success is the possibility that means we will see Deadpool in other Marvel movies, like the Infinity War series. With the licensing agreements between FOX and Marvel improving constantly, I even hope we get some of the classic X-Men in the Infinity War movies, plus a bunch of the Inhumans. Rumor is there are already over 60 superheros appearing in Infinity War. WOOT!

#71 8 years ago

Saw it and loved it. Really, it was awesome. Perfect for the character. My favorite part was at the end when Morena says something like "now that's a face i can sit on" and i hear this early-teen girl a few rows over, who apparently came with her dad, loudly say "what did she just say?" i don't envy the parent in that position but it was quite funny to everyone else in the theater.

I think a frame by frame analysis would be needed...as I don't think she shows anything, skin wise, that can't be shown on network TV. Unless I blinked a bit and missed something good. At best it was a quick glimpse with a "did I just see something?" thought going through your mind.

#73 8 years ago

my girlfriend is taking me today as a valentines gift. Her idea.

#74 8 years ago

Might be going with dad on Monday. I want to be offended but I doubt it'll happen. Deadpool, do your worst!

Heh, my son tried to warn me before the movie but I figured how bad could it be? Well now I know.

Like I said, I know I'm in the minority and it does sound like they stayed true to the character.... so my bad.

I doubt it. As soon as we got home he rushed into the shower mumbling something about feeling dirty.

Hey wait!?!?!?!?

I am of the same mindset. I don't see the point in trying to coddle and censor these young adults. It's impossible and pointless to do so.

you had me at senseless nudity. I'M IN!!!!!!!!!!!

#83 8 years ago

In all fairness I don't know anything about deadpool. Not really a superhero guy. But a close friend is, so he gave me the rundown on basically what Deadpool is.

He says, he's a super hero, who knows he's in a comic book. basically makes fun of the other super heros and does whatever the hell he wants because he doesn't give a shit, because he's stuck in a comic book. Usually poking jabs at spiderman the most. But he's still part of the marvel universe, which means he can interact with pretty much any superhero from any marvel comic that is in his timeline.

#84 8 years ago

Just seen the movie and really enjoyed it. I liked it being different from the typical superhero movie. I read this thread before seeing the movie and thought I was going to see a hard core porn / Andrew Dice Clay flick based on how some of you were making it out to be with the nudity and swearing. Anyone who thinks this was inappropriate for a teenager must keep their kids in a bubble with no access to the internet or a smart phone. I would argue there is much worse content on prime time tv then this movie. Not saying you have to take them to see it but if they want to go with their friends then I see no harm.

#85 8 years ago

Saw it yesterday and from a couple earlier posts was expecting it to be much more adult. It had its moments with adult jokes and the nudity was not over the top. I don't see l what all the fuss is about...there are plenty of movies with much more sex than this. There is not much in this movie a teenager has not already seen or heard before. There's Something About Marry is actually worse for young teens than this movie or numerous others with heavy drug use such as Blow, Pulp Fiction, etc.

#86 8 years ago

Yeah, i didn't think it was over the top at all really, but i could see where someone taking a kid to it and expecting a Disney-owned-Marvel film might be...surprised somewhat.

Either way, it has already had generally great reviews, broken at least one box office record, and had sequel greenlit, so it should at least be financially feasible option for a pinball license. And that's not even counting how cool the call out potential would be.

Stern dropped the ball with fake Optimus in TF and shitbeast in Xmen. They would probably just use the hillbilly voice for deadpool which has become the norm.

Possibly. I remember seeing Terminator and Robocop when I was in grade school and numerous R-rated action movies but hardly ever without mom and dad and never in a theater. When I got old enough to drive was around the time DVDs begun to rise in popularity, so I bought a lot of R-rated movies I missed out on and went to theaters to see many movies. From my perspective, that's a good way to raise a kid. When you're younger, watch the more adult stuff with mom and dad so they can explain some things and then when you grow up a little you can venture out and decide what you like to watch. Of course it's always fun going to a friend's house and seeing things you wouldn't be able to see normally.

#89 8 years ago

What is deadpool?

#90 8 years ago

Great flick. Lots of all the dirty stuff.

#91 8 years ago

My wife and I took our 15 year old daughter (she loved it). It was fine....nothing she hasn't seen or heard before (at this point). Once they hit high school "R" is on the table (IMHO). One of her favorite movies is the Breakfast Club.....she also loves everything Marvel (I'm so proud).

If you know who Deadpool is then this movie NAILED him and is very entertaining. If you don't...well you might be in for a little surprise.

Great movie. Will buy when it comes out. Not surprised its a hit. wish they would have added a cameo by wolverine and a few more mutants at mansion. Would love to see deadpool team up with punisher or spiderman, even captain america.
Deadpool in asgard? movie writes itself.

as for the nudity, 2 thumbs up. umm, not the reynolds nude butt......the girlfriend

I would say it's mostly just cultural differences. American's have generally been more strict in regards to drinking ages and movie ratings. Deadpool is rated 14A in Canada, as opposed to R in America.
