Stern, 2018Is there a pop up post or some other mech that is supposed to hold the ball in place? If so, have you checked to see if the mech works in test mode? Has a connector come loose from the mech or is there a broken wire?

Take a video. What you're saying doesn't make sense.
I think the e clip and spring are off. Shouldn’t the spring be fully under it? It may not be pushing the post up enough when the coil isn’t engaged. It looks like the spring slipped over the clip.
