Gottlieb, 1993I have an SF2 and discovered today that the woofer is dead. I hooked up an 8" Boston Acoustics CS280 8 ohm ceiling mount speaker I had lying around and got good sound, so the sound board and wiring are good.
I'm assuming that if I simply install the BA speaker I will miss some of the low end sounds but is it a major sound omission?
The BA speaker has a 3/4" tweeter. From what I can tell, the 8 ohm speaker powered by a 4 ohm amp isn't an issue. 10-100 watts, 50Hz - 20Khz
Turns out i can't use this speaker after all, the surround is higher than the metal mounting plate, and the tweeter is higher than the surround. Think I'll go to Parts Express for a new sub...

Get a VERY cheap one....you will hear no diff'rence in higher end stuff and it's just a waste of monies. You'll hear people say cheaper actually sounds better.
