Joined the club a couple weeks ago! Thanks, Gambit, for a nice game at a fair price. Tricked out and workin' sweet! Lots of fun -- and a favorite with the kids and grandkids. Much "friendlier" than TSPP. Already looking forward to my first shop job on it! (Colors look like crap in photo. LED colors are really cool in person.)

welcome! mine sits next to tspp also

Yes! Welcome, Matey! Mine *almost* sits next to TSPP.

For me, playing POTC is like a "mindless break" after the "cerebral exercise" of TSPP. I so love having them both.

I finally reached 4 Winds MB today for the first time! I didn't know what to expect, and didn't get very far with it (this time). Anyway...

Getting there was not easy, but I learned something. There were *two times* when I had *both* Heart MB and Davy Jones going at the same time. Thinking that would help me. But alas, both times, I failed to complete either one.

So, I then focused on Heart MB *only* and knocked that one out. *Then* got Davy Jones going and focused on that. So much for multitasking.

412M yesterday. 481M today. My best scores yet. This machine is so much fun!

Back Alley Creations has the most extensive collection of mods by far.

This is why I like PotC, it's quite simple you don't need to be a Ph.D. to understand the basic rules, beginners can jump right in, but it's long enough to keep good players occupied trying to complete the wizard modes.

Exactly! I tell folks LOTR and TSPP are like playing chess, and POTC is like checkers.

Ball paths change dramatically with level and pitch on POTC. Coming out of the chest. Coming out of the ship. Whatever. A little change in level or pitch makes a big difference on this title! Adjusting ball guides *should* never be necessary.

All that said to essentially say, check your EOS switch.

Right. Adjust your normally-closed EOS switch so it opens at the *very end* of the flipper travel. If it opens too early, you lose power.

I've yet to have a decent ball. I keep trying to pay closer attention to the DMD!

Gonna try scan mode for a while I think. Awesome!

Quoted from swampfire:

The rhythm of the music is 1-2-3, 1-2-3,...instead of 1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-4

Never noticed, but you're right! And playing pinball is a bit of a dance after all, yes?

Thanks for answering him. I knew it was a neon lamp but didn't know what else to tell him. Thanks for the info.

Quoted from maffewl:

The problem with putting anything on the flat plastic at the end of the rum ramp is that it will obstruct the view of the left outlane, making nudge saves more difficult.

Agreed. Mine came with the barrels mod. Wish it hadn't. Can't see sh*t.

Each of the 4 compass awards becomes available after completing the objectives on each side of it. For "Light Special" (East) that's Defeat Davy Jones and Heart Super Jackpot. So yeah, it gets lit the least.

lb1 -- Those are some very nice mods indeed.

Quoted from lb1:

Do you guys have any strategies recommendations to defeat Davy Jones? I've had the game for a while now and I have yet to do it.

For me... Stacking with Tortuga Multiball. NOT stacking with Heart Multiball. And of course, doing your best to time the shots when the ship is in place and not raised.

#824 3 years ago
Quoted from michi:

Could you explain why not with Hear Multiball?

When battling Davy Jones, the focus is the ship. Rather, during Heart MB, you have to hit the chest. Yes, you get the extra ball-savers etc., but with so many hits required, the split focus/objectives can be a problem. Has been for me anyway. I prefer to focus on one, then the other.

#826 3 years ago

True. If Davy Jones is all that remains, then any stack will do.

Hmmm thumbs up or thumbs down?

Yeah, hard to say. Sad to see her go, but the money is going toward our bucket list trip to Alaska!

I used to lift the back of the playfield to get it up over the bumps. But it's not necessary, and discovered there's an easier way.

Standing in front of the machine, reach out and grab the vertical parts of the supports. One in each hand. Pull supports downward, and the back of the playfield will lever/lift over those bumps, and you can then push. No, it does not put undue stress on the PF I'd say.
