Well I'm joining the club

Added a mint HUO POTC to my pirate man cave, only had 1500 plays on it.

Mods schedules for next week are pirate ship mod from weir pinball, leds, talking skull topper and speaker mod with sub.

What LEDs are the best to represent original colors and how do you wire the topper in to turn on with the game?

And 3 or 5 ball game setting?

Arghhhh!

#213 8 years ago

I'm looking for a topper for my machine.

Can any of you running the talking skull tell me if this can be used without the talking? Would look cool if you could just make the eyes light up with powering up the pinball.

Thanks for the help!

Quoted from BobC:

Speaker upgrade if you don't have one yet

I did this and it definitely makes the sub better. When the cannons and explosions are going it is almost like having a shaker with the volume up around 50.

Whenever I get into a timed ball lock situation it seems that the balls don't get locked in the spinner.

Anyone else run into this situation?

#248 8 years ago
Quoted from Wickerman2:

No...but must be an issue with the post being in the down position so maybe look at the optos at the "exit" from the compass? Clean them, re-seat connectors maybe get lucky..

the only thing I see where the ball drains is a post with a Phillips screw head.

Is this what you are referring to?

#250 8 years ago
Quoted from Wickerman2:

Yes. That raises up when the ball goes in the compass and then drops down to let ball out after a certain amount of time to build the time lock. There are optos all over that area--entrance to ramp, exit from compass..I would clean all those, check for loose wires, check the mechanism/wires that control the post.

Well I just very lightly adjusted screw in top of post and what do you know, it works now.

First game after getting it to work scored 77 million.

I knew something didn't see right before when I would continually shoot the ball up to the spinner only to have it drain right out.

Thanks for the help!

The final batch of POTC toppers have shipped today. Thanks to everyone for a great response. We do have two toppers left but when they're gone that's it. -D</blockquoteA

Any potc toppers left? Where do they plug into machine?

Thanks

Is it confirmed that there is no theme music for the new jjpotc?

2 months later
#1673 6 years ago

Anyone install theme song with pinball browser?

Some trivial info for you disney fans that know what hidden mickeys are.

Have you all found the hidden Mickey on the PF?

#1675 6 years ago
Quoted from Soulrider911:

psw757 no way where!

You really want me to give it away? Lol

Do some lookin buddy, they got one in there though. Got to love Disney!

#1678 6 years ago
Quoted from yzfguy:

I saw that Mickey first day I got the game and never could un-see it again!

Funny how Disney incorporates them, they are all over at Disney World and most have no idea.

#1680 6 years ago
Quoted from Soulrider911:

Wonder if the new JJP has some?

Find it?

#1682 6 years ago
Quoted from jorro:

Where is number 2 ?

The one I'm aware of is below the flippers in the coins.

#1684 6 years ago
Quoted from BENETNATH:

The shape of the lock on translite's chest

Wow - never noticed that one

Gotta love Disney!

#1686 6 years ago
Quoted from BENETNATH:

This pinball gets a good feedback from my son, easy and fun to play.
But he often goes to tspp and rfm after one play

It’s a crowd favorite at my house because it isn’t a overwhelming experience for non pinheads.
I will say though while not super deep, I haven’t come across many people who have actually beat it and completed four winds multiball.

#1689 6 years ago
Quoted from epotech:

4 winds is not the wizard mode. Gauntlet is.

I didn’t know this, I’m assuming another multiball?

Anyone planning on having both Potc’s in their collection?

Trying to decide if I should keep the Stern when I get my JJP.
Tough choice for me, the Stern was my first machine, I’m a fan of the franchise and like the machine.

However space is a premium and 8 machines is my limit for now so maybe it would be a bit then redundant? Any thoughts?

#1884 5 years ago
Quoted from PeterG:

Maybe, I did not count, but not cheaper, still very expensive.

Agree - there have been more ads but definitely haven’t lowered in price.

I think main reason for uptick in adds is similar to what I’m wondering. Is it a bad use of space to have both potcs in a collection?
I have a beautiful huo Stern and have the JJp on order.

Not sure what I’m going to due and will likely put them side by side and see if the Stern still draws interest.

#1886 5 years ago
Quoted from PeterG:

I just do not understand why people are saying when that they are the same so one is enough. It is like Star Wars or Star Trek, each machine is different, different era, different shots, different code, designer, etc. If you have the space, keep them both. One does not exclude the other. I understand that if you have an AFM and now an AFMr you could let go of one.

This is my rationale in thinking I'd keep both. At the end of the day though, it is still the same theme and I think to some extent they work against one another. At one point I had the DESW mint and loaded with color dmd and pinsound and the new Stern SW premium and after a few months nobody was playing the DESW so I sold it.

I originally posed the question because I have space for 8 machines. Delivery of the JJP puts me back at 8 with another being the Stern. I was just looking to see what others in a similar situation were going to do.

Don’t own my machine anymore but need to buy some bulbs as a gift for a relative.

Off the top of my head, do I need anything other that #44,89 and 555’s? The red and greens on back, are they 555’s as well?

Thanks

#2012 5 years ago

All the bulbs are bayonets correct?

Manual shows some wedge style but I don’t remember them in my machine.

#2017 5 years ago
Quoted from Spiderpin:

Not to sure about the blubs under plastics. Will be 8 hours until I can look.

Gi are all #44 bayonet clears?

#2019 5 years ago
Quoted from Koos:

I already answered your questions above. GI is all clear bayonet except for the red and greens on the backboard. I know some keep incandescents for these.
I used single SMDs with a frosted lens in the past myself.

I missed your post, sorry!

Not my machine and he want it all stock.

Thanks for the help though, bought the bulbs. Just couldn’t remember bayonet/wedge.

If anyone is thinking about trading their POTC hit me up. Have a nice Rush Pro low plays I’d be willing to let go.
Potc was my first machine and looking to get back in club!

Anyone know where to get a replacement ship hull? Stern 545-6179-00

#3740 3 months ago
Quoted from Soulrider911:

Is your damaged? I have had a bit of success repairing with Epoxy.

Noticed a small crack on my dad’s game when playing over holiday. Figured I would hunt a replacement down for him.
