Is it a buzzing sound?
Check if the coil is mounted straight
Or
Replace the coilstop and the coilsleeve.
Sterns have a lot off buzz to the coils

Thanks, Yes is a buzzing sound. The coil stop is new, Today I will also replace the coilsleeve. Do I have to replace the coil too? I do not have the no diode version, but only one with that code but with diode.
What does the coil is mounted straight?(sorry for my english)
Sterns have a slight buzz its because of the systems power cycle, but if the noise is realy hard sometimes filing the coilstop and the coilplunger tip smooth reduces the buzz.
The whole assembly must be in the perfect aligned position and a new coilsleeve is always better.
I also recal someone once had loud buzzing, and when the playfield slope was adjusted less steep the buzzing was reduced.
Also be sure to check/ clean your eos with a bussinesscard

This pinball is really difficult to finish, a really nice gameplay ... At the beginning it seems simple but in reality it is not, there are many strategies to combine and increase the scores, really happy to have purchased this as my fourth and probably last pinball

jamex - Don’t forget one last mod ...

Been kicking this around to and haven't seen a good picture of color led one to compare regular color dmd. Hoping some one else has tried or done it already.
I have the LED version, I like it a lot, I like the dots and the brightness. Black is really black. Personally I do not care about the high res modes etc.

I would say excellent
New to the POTC Club - absolutely love the game and thoroughly enjoying the forum! It's right at home sitting beside Gilligan's Island eh? I mean Arrrrrh.
GameRoom (resized).jpgDid a fun cheap mod I saw someplace on this thread. Bought the Key keychain on eBay for 8 bucks and cut it up bit to get it in the right configuration for the back board. Some JB Weld and it was back together. Adds some visual interest back there now.

That looks cool! I just ordered one too. Another good mod for under $10 is a “gold” plated Aztec Gold coin necklace what Ms. Swann wore to save Jack and Will Turner from the Cortez gold curse. They are $6.50 on EBay.

I just installed my POTC SLK and ran the power cord to the front...Bam! no power source available. Where have others plugged in? Or do I need a Y-Splitter?
TIA.
My speaker light kit plugged into the power source to the right of the coin door. There was an open connector right by the power supply in the harness. If yours is used for another mod then you will need a spliter.
Hi
I'm going to buy this, the new spinning disk sticker do you remove the remains of the old one or apply it directly on top?

Beware, it is a cheap repro. Not that good. Although it is way in the back of the machine. So just know thai si not a good one, I was a bit dissapointed. For application, I would remove the old, clean and then stick it on there. There are also clear rough disc that go on top for more ball grip.
If you need an original I think Stern sells them in Europe via KMS -

Thanks but Unfortunately I have to buy from the pinball center because he has pieces that I have to take them because he only has them

How did you mount your Jack The Money on the sign? Mine just showed up and I need a good way to mount it and I like the way he is sitting on the sign.
Love that drunken skeleton.

Actually, Jack the monkey was already added by the original owner when I bought it. It appears he used a type of rubber cement or apoxy to glue him in place, along with all the characters from the movie. He also used tiny zip ties to hold the characters in place. He did an excellent job. I added the drunken skeleton and his booze bottles. The tiny skeletons are easy to find on EBay and cost about $2-3 each. They come from China, so it takes a few weeks. I use them on several pins like Scared Stiff and CSI.
Good luck with your mods! Attach a pic or two when you are done. I just added the metal key to the back panel over the key art. Looks awesome!
Unfortunately we had a storm last week any my machine got hit with a power surge that killed the surge protector and a few parts in the power supply. So that sidelined my mods for a bit. Parts arrived yesterday so I need to get it rebuilt over the weekend and then I will be back to completing my mods and LED conversion.

I used a piece of red frosted plastic to defuse the leds. Works OK but still not perfect.

Two options in order of difficulty and quality of result.
1. Put a few layers of parchment paper between the board and cover. That makes the letters readable and helps the heart look better. It’s easy and most likely free.
2. Spray the underside of the chest heart cover in a light coat of white or silver paint. That looks the best and someplace in this giant thread there is a picture of the result.
I went with 1 above as it was easy and I had no spray paint available. It’s fine for now and looks much better.

As mentioned above, remove the plastic and spray the bottom with a light coat of white.

Have you photo of the final result?

I messed that up. Post 1468 and 1478, just pictures. No instructions to take the heart off the chest.

Tomorrow i try whit backin paper And then, if I don't like the end result, I'll try with the white paint

Use the white type baking paper not the brown.
I picked up a really mint stock POTC and loved playing it stock. Well you know that eventually leads to “making” it better. Just completed my LED conversion over the weekend. All Commet lights. Mostly 1 and 2 SMD sunlight and warm for the GI. Mostly Color matched on the inserts with 1 SMDs. Overall I like the way it came out. Also added mirror blades. That has a major positive impact even with the I candesent lights.
Next time around I may go all 1 SMD for GI as when it was all 2 SMDs they were just too bright and when I would play a modern stock LED game after my eyes had to adjust to the darker playfield in the new game ironically.
I also lit the left bonus treasure mini orbit to balance the playfield lighting. That was a fun little addition.
I did not like the frantic fading effects when you go from incandescent to LED so I added and LED OCD board and that was a great upgrade. I will do another post on that specifically. I made a comparison video but noticed you can’t upload video directly to a post. What’s the easiest way to share a video?
