Quoted from altan:

Anyone adjusted the music mix setting? It defaults to 1 and goes to 15. I’ve unscientifically settled on 13.
... Altan

Quoted from weaverj:

you can adjust the factory music mix?

Quoted from altan:

Yes. By adjust I mean the volume of the music against the call outs. It’s under adjustments. I’ll get the specific setting tonight.

Not much into mods, but added a few coins to my machine. Large piece of 8 is from a friend in the Bahamas, hanging coin is from the Atocha in Key West and the other small 2 coins are from the Treasure Coast here by me.

I did add LED's to my ship cannons when bought new and works off of the Tortuga spinning disc targets.
I also have color LCD display and mirror blades now, not much into mods, but felt this title deserved these..

#1803 5 years ago

very nice.

i got one of these in a trade a week or so ago, and so far i've been pleasantly surprised. loving the sound effects, callouts and music. working on redoing the lighting now. will need to rebuild the shooter; one of my pop aprons needs replaced. yeah, i'm liking it, guys. good game.

#1804 5 years ago

i threw in some ice blue GI tonight. not sure i like it. so you guys that did white, was it natural or warm? almost think warm would look good. have a SM with natural white and i feel like they wash out the color on stern plastics too much.

#1805 5 years ago

Go for warm white. Daylight white has no place in a POTC. Badly clashes with all the warm colours on the playfield.

I left mine incandescent for this reason. The warm glow of those bulbs burning fits the theme better than LEDs IMO.

#1807 5 years ago

I have sunlight white (Comet) in mine. I am a big fan of these. Warm white would look really good as well. I would avoid the natural/blue white at all costs.

was thinking sunlight, too. had those in my BSD backbox. looked real good. ty.

my auto shooter is a bit weak, and i haven't even gotten the thing steep yet. i didn't see anything visually wrong. is it recommended to put a bigger coil in there or something?

#1810 5 years ago

coil matches manual: 23-800. hmm.

#1811 5 years ago

sometimes the autoplunger needs adjusting, under the playfield the plastic bushings on the axel go bad causing space
This results in not both sides of the plunger hitting the ball.
Best first to check this and clean the coil bushing to.
maybe this will solve your problem, also look in the menue if coil power is set to normal not to soft

#1812 5 years ago

It's also common for the auto-plunger to rub the shooter-rod.

#1813 5 years ago

i reset to factory, so i assume i'm normal.

yes, the playfield can be nudged sideways a bit, which can cause shooter rod contact. i did correct this.

i think i ordered a new sleeve last night. kind of forget; it was so late. i'll disassemble, clean, replace that. hopefully it does the trick. thanks, guys.

the first wireform gate on the shooter lane is cracking the ramp. anyway to save the latter before i need a new one? i was thinking putty or something, but that would look like hell.

#1815 5 years ago
Quoted from weaverj:

the first wireform gate on the shooter lane is cracking the ramp. anyway to save the latter before i need a new one?

One thing that might help is to cut a strip of sheet metal (about 0.5 mm in thickness) to the same width and length as the metal plate that holds the gate to the ramp. Drill two holes into the strip and use it like a washer from underneath.

It's difficult to suggest something without seeing the actual damage. Can you post a picture?

#1816 5 years ago

I put some rubber rings on the screws to attach the wireform on the ramp. Hope that helps. On my old ramp I had the sheet metal under the ramp. That worked.

#1817 5 years ago

okay, i'll try to get some pics up soon.

you can also see how bad the ice blue LED's look. i started putting natural whites in last night; so much better.

I've had the machine for a while now but can't seem to figure out when I get Broadside (chance of sinking the ship with one shot). I know it starts when the ball rolls down the right most lane from the top but it doesn't always reward it. Anybody have a clue?

Yes you have to destroy the sails first!
When you make broadside after that and hit the ship, it immediately sinks. I also like the callout “you cheating pirate”.

Especially useful when you need to defeat the more difficult ships. But unfortunately there’s no way to control the ball up on the upper playfield.

I think there was a setting in menue how difficult to get it, but dont know fore sure

Regarding the cracked ramp, not sure what to suggest, other than to make a pair of metal plates with two holes each, shaped to match the ramp where the crack has started. Then rivet the plates to the ramp to hold it together.

Hello,

I am hoping to install a shaker motor on a Stern POTC. From past discussion it seems that you can install a motor from either an AFM or STTNG and connect it to one of the flash lamps. I cant find a source for one of those so are there currently any other options for this or perhaps someone who has one of those shaker motor kits for sale?

Thanks,

Rob

#1831 5 years ago

Hi,

I posted this in another topic but I probably should have posted it here in this thread instead...

Just got done making this custom topper for the POTC. I retrofitted LEDs into the ship canons so that they look like they are firing back at you. Let me know what you think and PM me if you want me to make you one as well.

I have seen someone doing something similar to the ship inside the game. I can't tell if they are still making them or not as they are showing as "out of stock" on their site. I can make that setup as well if you want for the same price if that other person is no longer doing them. I can even do all the drilling etc so all you have to do is install the ship in your game. PM and we can go over what you want done.

Best Regards,

Rob

I guess I'll chime in here... got pirates 2 years ago, new in box from some dude that had a bunch of NIB pins sitting in storage. I'd say it gets the most play in our collection but it still looks brand new.

Coin Taker LED kit and a few toys:

I am looking for a decal for the backbox speaker area. I do not want the wood 3d one but just an cheaper decal. Anyone designed something or has something for sale. Something that matches with the translite art?

#1836 5 years ago

Best Regards,
Rob

I just bought this mod from Rob. I picked option 3 where he put the leds in the ship and all I had to do was install it. He was great with messages back and forth letting me know when it would ship and instructions how to install it. The mod was very well packaged and very well done very clean( you can not see the leds in the cannons, looks stock until they fire!!!! I have been wanting to do this for a long time and I am really Glad Rob picked up and ran with it!
If you want a killer mod for a great price this is the one!!
Thank you
Charlie

I actually got it at wizard deflipperkast specialist
But their website is out of order now ? https://www.pinballwizard.nl

#1842 5 years ago

one of my pop aprons is chewed up, so i bought a replacement. never did one of these before and it looks like i have to cut the bulb socket wires. can't they come up with a better design? either way, is it bad to use twist-on wire connectors? would make things easier now and in the future for sure. i think unsoldering/resoldering is going to be tough with all the pops going to the same community lugs.

#1843 5 years ago

just did that pop and used the little gray twist-on connectors. worked pretty good and looks a lot nicer than electrical tape. i know, it's not a solder job, but whatever. will be a lot nicer next time it needs service. that's for sure.

I'm getting weak results from the plunger (located to the left of the bottom-most pop-bumper) that captures and sends the balls to the pop-bumpers. It works fine when testing but not in gameplay. Most of the time it's so weak that the ball completely misses the lower bumper. What should I be looking for and thanks?

#1846 5 years ago

first thing off the top of my head: check the bracket underneath. sometimes the screws get loose, and it'll move off it's spot a bit causing the plunger not to hit the ball square.

#1847 5 years ago

who let that monkey loose??

Thanks, the bracket is solid so it must be something else that I can't see.

Edit: I took the piece off to take a look and saw nothing out of place. I also made sure the coil sleeve was not seized or binding and I cleaned them even though they were not dirty. Anyone else have ideas on what the problem is?
