Hey guys, I have a beautifully restored POTC I'm putting up for sale. I thought I would never do this, but its time for a new home. This machine is basically new. I know there are a few for sale and my price may be a bit high, I am willing to move a little on price, but There is some serious time in this machine. If you have seen any of my build threads you will see how meticulous I am.

Asking 5199.00 OBO, Cheers and thank you for looking.

Hi guys, I’m seriously considering selling my POTC to buy another pin.
Unfortunately I only have room (and the budget!) for one pin. And after a year of playing the same game over and over again I’m interested in getting to know a new game.

Prices of more modern pins like Ghostbusters, Metallica, Aerosmith and The Walking Dead are dropping so I’m discussing a few trades here and there.

The question I have for you guys is what do you think a very nice POTC HUO is worth nowadays? Mine is in mint condition with no wear at all on either the playfield or the cabinet. I installed Cliffy’s, replaced all lighting with LED and created a customs topper.

Please let me know what you guys think! Thanks!

#1707 6 years ago

I wouldn't sell mine for less than $4800, and I have a few more mods than you. I would think somewhere between $4500-4800 should get it sold.

#1708 6 years ago

This is europe.
I would start with 4300 euro but maybe you end up around 4k. Topper is no extra. Some will like it some won't. No other extra like colordmd, mirrorblades? Sound upgrades like flipper fidelity?

Nice!
Are they rubber, what did you paint them with Peter?

#1713 6 years ago

Yes rubber ones from ebay, five pack. Painted them with darkgreen model paint. Tamiya. They are bright light green. I always like to weather plastics. They did come out nice. Placed some additional lights below the kraken to light things up.

Ok...looks great, but going to need a link to what you bought on eBay so I get this done!

#1716 6 years ago

Here the link, was on Amazon, not Ebay.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FT8WUZU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

the paint you can also buy at Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/TAMXF62-81762-Acrylic-Mini-Olive/dp/B009ACS632/ref=sr_1_6

I mixed mine with some grey and bright green I already had , to give it more depth.

#1717 6 years ago

Looks great.

But I would not use green lights to light it all up. Warm white is where it's at.

Green on green washes out the details. All of it.

Nice job!

#1718 6 years ago

Is til have to order some warm white bendies and will experiment to get the best result. Pirates is a bit of dark in that area, so considering to add a spotlight in that part. Any one did cover up the spotlight on the field. I know you have barrels for the Hobbit but are very expensive. Any other ideas?

i have a set of these but was affraid of the rubbery texture it might flake the paint.
I have them as a topper
the paint u used is model paint i believe?

btw Peter i finaly got a canon for my inlanes, hope to cut it and place soon!

Looks amazing!!
I’m not very handy with paint and weathering techniques so I shouldn’t consider doing this.
But I think there might be a few pirates here on who whisk to buy a couple of painted tentacles from you.

I went for warm white spotlights on the ship since it shows more details. My guess is that the Kraken looks better in white light as well.

#1723 6 years ago

Oh painting and weathering is easy, there are some great youtube video on than. This one from Adam Savage is great:

This one is also great

So just start, can't go wrong. And if you bought the five pack, you have some parts to practice.

Great Mod! Where did you get the other part of the Kraken at?

#1725 6 years ago

The kraken part is this one

http://images.collector-actionfigures.com/AF-141961_a3e384c0-2e6f-11df-8650-001ee5d7ff66_00.jpg

Search on google Zizzle Kraken Slime.
I drilled the eye out and added a led that is attached to the flasher at the back of the kraken plastic on the playfield.
I lighted the slime with some leds, I have seen versions with a flasher dome there, but I liked to keep the slime, It will dry out and will get hard but looks great. I have the Jack figure that jumps into him, like in the second movie.

#1726 6 years ago

Has any one of you have a Davy Jones key in or on their potc

#1727 6 years ago

I have created a Davy Jones key myself. I attached it to the back board where the key is. So it is now a 3d version.
Problem is that almost nobody notices it Still think to light it from the back on the 3rd light of K-E-Y.

It's a great game. Don't go crazy with colored LEDs for the GI...this game looks terrible with too much blue. A few blue LEDs in the GI around the ship to look like water is ok, but don't get too carried away.

By the way, a friend of mine if having issues with his ship/sails. Sails don’t rise or lower most of the times. When he initiated a ship test, most of the times the sails won’t lower but the ship does try to lower. With as a result the ship can’t lower and forces itself toward the ramp.

Any ideas what might cause the issue with a malfunctioning sail assembly?

Nothing is stuck or in its way.

#1735 6 years ago

Check if the coil isn't locking up by dirt or melted inside the coil bushing
Even if a coil is a little out of position it can intervere with movement
If everything is good check the wire's for internal breakage by the movement.

#1736 6 years ago
Quoted from Koos:

And I did that as well But placed the at the top of the slings.

I need to do that.

#1737 6 years ago

Couple more snaps. Some great mods already on it. My basement is a little dark. LED’s are in most of the inserts , but they are starting to ghost. Led ocd is going in as soon as possible, going to use that to manage the brightness of some of the inserts. GI needs some more fine tuning and led love.

In my opinion you went a little overboard with the blues but to each it's own right?

But I do agree that warm white suit this game. Me myself went for sunset white from Comet. It's a white in between of warm and cool white. I used warm white for the spotlights at the ship and I only added some ice blue in the back below the ship and ramps.

In about a week someone will be picking up my POTC and it's time for something different. So I'm afraid I have to leave this club soon or otherwise I'd be keelhauled.

The pics don’t do it justice but I’ve been swapping in some comet cyan and they look sweet, they give the water more of a tropical look!
