I was in the middle of a game of fish tales the other night and the machine just died mid game like a fuse had blown. checked all the fuses and they are all good. could this be a fried board of some description. Have no idea where to start looking. its a broad question i know but any suggestion would be much appreciated.

Did you check the boards?Does it start up?

First thing I would try is reseating all ribbon cables. It could be as simple as that.

Did the ribbons.what would the board look like if it were fried?

what would happen if i replace a 250v 5A fuse with a 250v 10A fuse

BOOM !!!!! Something will Fry !!!!

it was the fuse in the line filter assembly. found a 5A fuse to replace it and it killed that one too, instantly. so there is a bigger problem hey?

#9 12 years ago

Line filter assembly.......sounds like it could be tied to the power coming in?

without a multi meter does anyone know where i sould go from finding out that the fuse in the line filter blows instantly when i turn the machine on.

You should go to radio shack to buy a multimeter... you've got to track down an electrical problem, you're going to need one.

And you should be looking for a problem on the power board or transformer - unless someone has jumpered around the fuses or replaced them with bigger ones, a problem somewhere else would just blow the fuse on the power board.

Here's a case with the exact same problem. Try following this thread and check all the discussed failure points.

it did turn out to be the RF line filter for the future pinheads that have the same prob. Does any one have any ideas as to why the filter has died. It looks quite new and cant figure why its stuffed.
