Hey everyone.
So I've made some progress on my TZ repair. The CPU board is fine, all readings seem to be correct. Just to quickly bring you up to speed - hitting a flipper causes a reset. Yes, potentially the typical BR2/C5 mantra. I just wanted to ask what does C5 do? Cause I was thinking (and I'm still quite a newbie to all this stuff!!!) that, under the assumption that C5 has something to do with maintaining 5V voltage (well, it is a capacitor...) for the CPU; if C5 is faulty, could hitting a flipper (thus triggering the 50V high power) cause a voltage drop below the Watchdog minimum? I've read in a few guides that obviously some elements of a pin are voltage-hungry, and voltage supply isn't perfect (my CPU only reads at 4.80, Watchdog minimum is 4.70 or 4.75, anyway a sudden 50V surge could lead to a 0.10 drop on another board, no?) I mean, I could be completely wrong and probably am, but I've had this issue for so long now as no one was able to help me properly, and I'm not, as of yet, desperate enough to just buy a new power board. Just grabbing at different straws. Pardon my laziness, I could look at the schematics, but I'm afraid I'll get it wrong. I'd rather ask someone who knows their stuff.
Thanks in advance!
