Our recently acquired Data East Tommy pinball machine had a slanted screen display. After removing the board and metal plate stacked above it, we straightened the glass dot matrix board by adding a ledge for the lower edge to sit on (the glue between glass and circuit board had failed).
When we reassembled it all and turned the game on, the bottom rows (28, 30-32) ceased to work and we have NO CLUE why this happened. We reseated the connectors on their pins, fired it up again, and still have the display problem. We are new to all of this and just inherited our first two machines from a friend two months ago and have no prior experience "under the playfield". We have replaced the rubber on the playfield, a cracked auto launcher, and several bulbs, but those were pretty straightforward repairs.
What should we do? It was working fine before, just sitting crooked behind the glass, so we thought this would be a simple fix. Should we just reseat the cables on the pins again, or is there more to this? Appreciate any help you can give. The next step for us is to reseat the cables while swinging a dead chicken over our heads counterclockwise.
We've been lurking on this forum for six months now and it gave us the confidence to do the things we've done to it so far - with a nudge from "stevevt". Thanks all!
