I have had this pf for a couple years. I think the reason it didnt sell is because it needed to be drilled and dimpled, plus before you clear a pf this age you have to go thru and fix the issues, deal with uneven inserts, plus every insert has a crack around it. I sealed the back, and it came out great. I kind of have a pulse on whats being restored in the community, by the titles that come in. The DE games from this era are amazing and not many folks restore them. Back when they were coming out and I was playing them at pinball petes in east lansing, I liked the DE games because they hit hard and fast. I dig the deep colors and I really like the way the inserts are under art, so you only see a couple inserts from the top of the pf. So I know people just clicked to see th epics and dont want to hear me yap, so here ya go

I sent a dozen used pf's with john dayhuff to the ohio show this weekend, including the pf I bought to make a drill/dimple pattern from for this pf!
So if you go to the ohio show, which is always a blast, stop in and say hi to JD. and buy a pf. This pf is for sale, but I am not posting it for that reason. I am posting for inspiration, to show people what a good clear can look like, and to maybe generate conversation about pf's. This title or any.

Quoted from Dallas_Pin:

Your work is always amazing. Since you deal on multiple types of games playfields, did Data East use harder wood than others? The few DE pf’s I have dealt with feel more solid than others.

I often notice that some pfs are really light wood, and some really heavy. I just dont have an opinion thats worth printing. DE pf's remind me many times of sys 11 pf's.
sorry. Not much help

Quoted from dr_nybble:

OK Ron, since our friend vid1900 hasn't been around lately (hope he is okay!) I'll ask a few questions.
What approach would you suggest to address this kind of minor damage (scan of BSD playfield)? The wood is a little chewed up and dirty.

I dont do any repair work unless I have a stripped pf and it is getting restored, and I have only done 2 restorations in 5 years. (not including NOS restorations that need a lot of work. This DESW took over 30 hours of work , not incliding drill and dimple before I cleared it).

When I used to do repros and had a switch slit like that, I would sand it smooth and paint it. if I couldnt get any solid wood after sanding, then I would sand it down a lot, and then I would cut lines in the wood with my exacto and make a form and use jb weld to build it up, sand it smooth and paint. You can match the wood pretty easy, and paint and it blends right in with the pf. Most of the time if there is a slit next to it, paint them both.

If you end up doing a repair job and not a restore job, after you paint make a custom mylar to go around the slit. also I have bought games that have cliffy protectors on worn slits. so those are available. I am guessing that is the one that the wire form ball return drops the ball on to. I love that game by the way. I regret selling mine even though it was a used up p.o.s.

I realize thats not a lot of help either, but you get what you pay for. ha.

Quoted from Pablito350:

We just bought a Star Wars, and while our playfield looks great it's nothing compared to that. That just came out perfect!

Thank you for the compliment. I do my best on every pf I do. That may not be as good as others, I just make sure I give my customers the best I can do.
I would like to possibly get a DESW game if this pf does not sell. do you mind sharing a little info on the price and condition of what you got since pa and mi are similar markets. if you want you can private email me.

Thanks again. kruz
