I made yet another newbie plunge and purchased an AnyPin NVRAM 6116/6264 chip last month and have a couple quick questions before I destroy my pinball machine trying to put it in...

Which chip on the board gets swapped out? The one below the ROM Chip with the yellow sticker? Is any soldering needed? If it IS that one, I see it's labeled 6264, but assuming may get me into trouble.

Should I use the "extension" pins that come with it? I would think those would make it easier to plug in.

What's the easiest way to extract the existing chip without messing up the board?

That is the correct chip to remove. Be sure to remove the batteries, it is also a good idea to place a label in the battery holder saying NVRam installed (in-case you sell the pin etc)
My favorite tool to use to remove chips is the stanley bostitch premium chrome staple remover (G2K) you can also use a small flat blade screwdriver and work the chip out from both ends working back and forth.
You will need to see how the chip sets in the socket and then decide if you need to use the extension pins or not.

Easy enough. I put the extension pins on and that made it a lot easier to install.

Good thing I swapped them out too! The Duracells were from 2002 and the PowerCheck was showing the one was completely dead and the other is getting close.
