Don't use the "'extension' pins that come with it". They're machine pin sockets for use in boards that don't have their RAM socketed. They can be used to extend the clearance for unused pins on the anyPin, but it's not ideal, and not necessary on DE boards.

No, just plug it in the socket, matching the notch orientation on anyPin to the notch in the chip you removed, and the other chips on the board.

As long as the batteries didn't leak on the board, there's nothing else you'll need to do.
