I'm at the end of my rope on this so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

My DE JP was playing fine until this week. I noticed it reset when it was on 2 or 3 times in a row when I was playing a different game then everything but the GI went out so I was thinking it was fuse or something stupid. I had 1.3v at the 5v so I recapped the power supply today.

When I put the power supply back in now I have the game booting but garbage on the DMD. I checked the voltage at the DMD and my -100 is reading about -55, the -98 is reading about -40 and the 68v is also low at about 40v. I replaced all the caps with new ones so I'm kind of at a loss of where to go next. I don't know if C2 would impact anything but that one leaked and one of the solder pad was toasted so I had to jumper one of the legs, but I have 5 and 12v at the DMD.

Pin 12 on CN1 on the power supply looks pretty toasty too, but the display was working fine prior to this and it looks like that is ground based on the manual.

Any ideas on what to check is definitely welcome.

Quoted from Bax1:

ever figure this out?

Yep, threw the garbage DE power supply in the trash and bought an XPin one .

Best back end investment you can make on any DE.

Yep ha! I should have known better and just done it to begin with!

Quoted from gdonovan:I prefer rebuilding them myself.
Any 30 year old power supply is going to have issues. New bridges, caps and fuse clips go a long way towards reliability.

I've rebuilt a few over the years and it seems like something always fails down the road, they were just poorly designed. For the cost of parts and whatever you value your time at, you can throw a few extra bucks in and replace it and never have to worry about it again. I typically like keeping things original as well but I've never found these to be worth the trouble with the low cost high quality replacements out there. I tend to take the same approach with the B/W DMD HV boards that always burn up. For the 60 bucks or whatever the modern replacement cost is on them they just get tossed into the trash and replaced. The time isn't worth it to me any more when the cost is so minimal to replace it.

I've had alot better luck rebuilding the System 11 power supplies. Those seem to be a snap and then keep on ticking.
