    Hi Everyone,

Being it's that time of the year again for the "12 Hours Of Pinball" Party announcement that is usually held on the first Saturday of November each year (with the exception of having to cancel last years party plans due to Covid) but what with the upward rise of Covid cases this years it is with much regret that we will have to postpone the event for this year as well. SuAnn and I are just not comfortable with having a crowd of people here in such close quarters, and trying to keep it limited to a certain number of people doesn't really work for us either. It's either go big or nothing at all basically.

Another reason is that we have recently had a few personal family matters this year that have taken up much of our time as well and it's uncertain if things will get better any time soon. We don't want to say either way but perhaps we can at some point pick up with the 18th annual party but I fear it may never happen at this point, but who knows? Time will tell and it's just day to day and that's all we say for now.

If somebody else in the area wants to start there own annual party then please feel free to do so and I can offer up tons of advice on things that have worked and not worked for us in the past 17 years. We only ask that you leave the 1st Saturday of November for us in case we come back at some point.

Anyways, we hope everyone can understand it's not that we don't want to its just that were not able to pull off such a huge task at this time. Hopefully things will only get better for us and we can get back to some sort of normalcy soon. And if you have any past party pictures you can share in this thread please feel free to post them, we'd love to see them as we recently lost 90% of all of our digital pictures taken over the last 20 years. Take care everyone and thanks for understanding.

Sad to hear. Good luck to you and SuAnn, hope everything works out OK.

    #3 1 year ago

Thanks for sharing your thoughts John. Your hospitality is legendary and I hope this tradition can continue in the future!

Well wishes to you and your family!

    #4 1 year ago

I've never been but your first class. To open your place and let everyone enjoy is an awesome display of hospitality and kindness.

Best of luck John and SuAnn.

    #5 1 year ago

Glad to hear that you were thinking about it.
Understandable in the circumstances. Thanks for all the previous open houses and hope you do it again sometime.

We all do understand. Take care of your needs.

On this, the first Saturday of November, the date that all of the past Dayhuff's 12 Hours of Pinball parties occurred, Id' like to raise a toast and give a hearty thanks to John and his wife SuAnn, for their generosity in throwing all of those prior parties. Whether or not the parties resume in the future, there's so many good memories that I have associated with this particular Saturday, due to John and SuAnn's efforts, kindness, and friendliness, that I thought it worth mentioning.

So here's to you John and SuAnn, thanks for all the fun and memories.

    Jeff R.

    #8 1 year ago

Thanks Jeff and everyone else, I raise my Mountain Dew back to all of you.....LOL. SuAnn and I sure miss seeing everyone and having all the fun that we've not had over the past two years. Hopefully next year we can resume where we left off..., only time will tell. In the meantime I may have a special surprise for everyone in another week or two so sit tight and play some pinball and pretend your here in our somewhat controlled pinball party chaos.......LOL.
PS. If anyone has any of those pictures from the past parties they'd like to post here on Pinside please feel free to do so, we'd love to see them.
    Thanks,

    John

Found a couple more. One of the late John Kosmal (KOZ, may he rest in peace) playing some pinball during the 2016 party, and another from the same perspective from the 2017 party.

I hope to attend this party some day, could not begin to blame anyone for postponing during our current ridiculous times. Maybe 2022?!

Wow those are cool Jeff, kinda neat to compare the two and see all the differences a year can make. Anyone else??

You made the right choice to cancel, I was at the 2016 show with my son and it was a great time. I will see if I have a few pics and upload.

    #15 1 year ago

Digging into the archives a bit, and a few more of Koz as well as Dubbs.

And going even back a year earlier to 2003. The crowd sure was thin back then...LOL.

Wow. Great pics of people and games that are no longer around.

    #20 1 year ago

I miss the old Dayhuff gatherings as they weren't as crowded as the recents. I'm waiting for you to expand the basement or build a pole barn to attend another one. All is good and happy that you and SuAnn are doing well.

    #21 1 year ago

Great pics John. You got one of us from 2004. Impressive. I think that was the time I played in the split flipper tournament and JDubbs was my partner. We didn't win but it was fun!

    Whoops, just found some 2005.

Could not make it for the 12h of pinball but got my private tour in 2016, could finally met Kong. Thank you John !

    #26 1 year ago

Some pictures of me, my dad, my son Josh and my daughter Sarah back in 2003, 2004 and 2005. A lot of the regular pinball people back in the day, albeit a LOT younger! Very cool pictures!

Here's some more, this time from 2006. Looks like the crowd it starting to pick up a little this year. This was also the first year of the T-shirts and was a total surprise idea from Jim Farris and from then on we just rolled with it. Thanks for the inspiration Jim!!

Bummed but kind of knew this was going to happen. Your parties were the beginning of the MPL and I met so many great people there over the years. The best was the year JDubbs showed up with his 1/2 gallon of Captain and slammed it down in a couple hours, bringing out the best in Dubbs as we knew him lol.

    Video from the 5th annual.

Cheers to you John and SuAnn!

Wow, thanks for posting Mick, lots of changes since then. Any chance you still have that 4th Annual party video? Somehow we've lost that one on You tube.
