So what I’d the deal with the posy on left outlane? Mine was never installed but see many that do and some don’t. Was it installed new by operator or later games had it installed/not installed? My right outlane post is installed.

I posted about the same thing pretty recently, so if you scroll back and read through the past few pages you'll get more details. That said, I installed a post on the left side and am much happier with it. Without it was draining down the left outlane farrrr too often. After installing the post I feel it's much more fair.

Man this game plays good. I forgot how much I enjoyed it. I added a light to the right rear saucer and sunlight LED’s in the GI. I added a few blue and red fire LED’s in the areas of the back box to add to some of the effects.

Rebuilt all mechs and flippers with new bats and after polishing added Titan rings.

I have a set of used plastics along with a new topper of anyone is looking.

Parts - For Sale
Used, good condition - “Complete used set in good shape. A few may have a section broken. There are a few multiples. I also have some other extra parts like drop target assembly and decals.”

Anyone know how to reset the extra ball with the ramps. Having people over and want to make it easier for them. Right now it’s like 30 ramp shots or more. What is the adjustment for this? Thanks

Check the voltages at the testpoints on the power supply board (+5V,+12V, -12V)
Usually the capacitors fail after so many years
Fuseclips are also a weak point on those games

Only thing that works is the GI lighting.
Checked voltage at the fuses on power board and no voltage. Pulled the white and yellow plug and no power either.
Thanks for the help!

This all sound power supply related. You can check voltages as mentioned above, and recapping as needed. If you are not great at board repair you can send it out to a few specialist or even consider buying a new power supply board and simply swapping it out. Me, I just purchased a new power supply and it fixed my issues.

What brand did you go with?

Mine has a Pin-Tek board for ~$160. There's also a Rottendog option for ~$145. Both are pretty much an easy swap out.

Had a power outage the other day and now I don’t have any sound while playing. No music or sound effects. It does say “back in action” on power on as well as plays music then too.

Any tips greatly appreciated!

Does everything else work, just not sounds? Could be it just fried one of the sound roms, or even the sound ram.

Yeah the game plays perfect just no sound during game play. It’s so strange the song plays when powering on.

It indicates the sound board has booted up and will do this regardless of even having a MPU in the game.

Try flipping the ribbon cable first before further diagnosis.

Flipping the ribbon cable? Like put it in backwards? Sorry I’m new to pinball repair but learning fast.

Yes, flip both ends though.

If an important line is broken, flipping the cable may change things pointing towards the possible problem. Just the fact of taking the cable off might even clean the pins enough for signals to get through and start working again.

Couldn’t flipping the ribbon, or misaligning them by a pin or two when connecting normally really fk things up!?

Contact me please.
Will contemplate a working project as long as the pf is intact.

Thanks

Does anyone re-make the metal ramp? I would love to replace mine.

Thank You In Advance,
Pete

#1938 1 year ago

Well, well well....

I am stoked. Found what it looks like to be a home use only LW3 or at least it had been to then being relegated to the storage room for a couple decades. The game was recently purchased by a collector who got it to resell. I paid fair market value for it, he might have not not and such is life. We all win, because I got a good example I would have not been able to find if it was not for this person.

I have not seen one this nice in many years. After buying and selling so many 90s games, you can easily distinguish what is home use from a routed game.
The years of smoke , grease, and other commercial smells create what I call the 'pinball scent', and when you open one of these up they just reek of this and it is not bad, but it is not French perfume either, lol. The cabs also get this grimy black feel as if they were covered by a thin layer of accumulated dirt that is now bonded to the MDF bottom.

My game has NONE of this, and to my surprise - something I have never seen before - all the electronics in the cab are still covered by a cardboard type material similar BUT thicker than fish paper, which I presume is something the game ship with. So yes, it still seems to have original wrapping around inside coin box, etc.

What a gem.

Granted the cab is not perfect but it is a solid 8 to 8.5 out of 10. I would give it a 9 but I am too picky.

Had to cross the border to get it but I made it! Seller was kind to meet me halfway so it was meant to be... super happy to have my grail pin join the family.
This has been on my list for a few years now, but it was always postponed as I was not able to find a good one, these DE are always severely worn.

So happy, this has been in the making for 30+ years after I played for the first time in the Argentinian summer back in Jan-Feb 1993 while on holidays. I was just a little kid in the arcades and this game and T2 were my faves.
Great memories.

Pin is home, now I am in the tuning stages and looking at things that should have done many years ago. Luckily, the person who I bought it from did the LED on it, news translate and a few other things, just enough bling to sell it, including all new drop targets.

I have been working on it for 2d days now, cleaning the head, fixing and replacing connectors that were burnt or just crusty. I love doing this since I own all the OEM molex crimpers to restore all the connections to their original state.

I have also replaced the DMD with my own colour LED DMD, I made these myself. I have colorized dozens of games now and building the DMD is fun for me so I do it for all the OLD DMD era games I own, some of those games have been sold now but I have done Williams Indiana Jones, Terminator 2 just to name a few.

Anyway, the head is now done, all connectors that needed replacing have been replaced. Next, I will making my own driver board with one of DumbAss remakes, he has been making Data East and Williams boards for a while now and his work is phenomenal, I also heard that HEP uses these sometimes and he loves them.

I am so happy I found this game.

Today I will be replacing the power plug as the ground prong had been cut off at some point.
Next is overall clean, replace leg levellers, add new balls and just play it.

It will be a fun day.

Pictures to follow once it is all clean, it does not need much.

Hoping to see some action in this thread.

Thank you. The light bar is actually a diy 3d printed set of "pinstadium xstream" lights that i built for when i stream on twitch. They attach with magnets to the side rails on most games. If not they can be laid down and the second row of leds are activated.

Just finished streaming lethal weapon with the pinballcode.com roms the other day actually.

The LAH shooter has the microswitch in the handle instead of the crazy linkage setup that the stock shooter has. You can remove the stock switch and repin the shooter handle to plug in just like factory. I added a diode inline with the switch because that's how the factory setup is. The adapter is needed to space the handle off the cab a bit so you have room to route the wiring for the switch without crushing it when tightening the handle to the cab.

Im using pinballcode.com chad rom v3.0.1. Tons of changes one of which is lowering the likely hood of the okokok callouts.

Full list of changes can be found here:
https://www.pinballcode.com/lw300

Quoted from TxJay:

I did! Thank you for the legwork and inspiration. It wasn't easy finding a LAH shooter thats for sure.

On a side note I started a youtube channel for pinball tutorials. Im not the best player but Im trying something new. First video is a "tutorial" game of LW3 on the V3.0.1 rom code. If you have a few minutes i would appreciate a view and some feedback. At the very least I hope you are at least mildly entertained.
