Verify your power cord is good up to the transformer and switch. If not sure where they are at, follow the power cord in the machine, and use a meter to check hot, neutral, and ground from the plug to the machine. Also, verify there is high (infinite) resistance between each of these.

OK - I'm a bit confused. Did you use a meter to check continuity of the power cord, or just do a visual inspection? AC power does not have a "positive".
Report back on what you find and how.

OK - you have verified the power cord is good, so unless there's something really screwed up with the wiring, you should be able to plug in the machine, (Verify there's power at the outlet first), remove F8, then plug something into the service outlet and verify you have power there. If you don't have power, then there's something wrong with the wiring.

BTW - the schematics can be found at IPDB.org Just look up Data East Star Wars and find the schematic.

When you say you did not get power to the game, I assume you installed a verified good F8 fuse. If so, then the next option is the line filter and/or the thermistor is bad. I assume you already checked the on/off switch.

Is the thermistor burned? They are usually a bright red color. I'm not sure how to check the line filter, there might be other threads here that can help. But, since we've eliminated the power cord and fuse, those are the only two devices left that would keep the machine from getting power.

Keep us informed.

Here's a few pictures of my power box. My thermistor is green, I had said earlier that it was red.

Good deal - so you're working now. I was concerned about how you got shocked. I couldn't see how it was possible unless something was really screwed up or you touched where nobody normally touches.
