Hi all! This is my first post here on Pinside, and I feel like I'm waay in over my head. I purchased a Data East Star Wars machine through Kijiji here in Ontario, Canada, and was told (and shown in pictures only) that the table was working well and in good shape (there are a few scratches and cracks in some of the plastics, but nothing I was not aware of).
My big issue is that since I bought the machine and had it delivered, the table has not worked properly: the game will start up (eventually, at times it takes almost 5 minutes from powering on to the game actually starting to display the version code and splash screen on the DMD), and enters Free Play mode. However, once I hit "Start Game", the DMD switches to the Skill Shot game, but no ball is fed into the shooting lane - on the odd time (so far, twice) that a ball HAS loaded into the shooting lane, the "fire" button will not launch the pinball to the playfield.
When the game initially starts up, all of the lights on the playfield cycle (including the one on the shooting lane). I've changed out every single fuse on every board, and have had a service tech in about four times in order to try to get to the bottom of this issue. Unfortunately, no matter how many times he's come, no matter what he's "fixed", nothing has solved my problems.
I've spent more than I thought I would need to over the past 7 months trying to get single game out of this table - I'm at the end of my rope, I have no idea what to look for or where to start.
Any help, suggestions, guidance or helping hands would be greatly appreciated - even if it is no more than a recommendation for a reputable tech somewhere nearby (I cannot lie; changing fuses I can do - rewiring the playfield might be a bit beyond my skills right now).
Thank you all!
